Fictional racism in ME3 MP, where to draw the line? Hoping for a civil discussion...

Except I'm going to find it hard to take the volus seriously because I'll probably be laughing so hard watching them.

For galactic peace, Bioware, please delete any reference of volus MP characters. They're doing more damage already than the reapers ever could.

The only definitely evil character is Morinth. She is a sociopathic sex vampire killer. Kai Leng may also be evil, but he might just be an indoctrinated racist, it's impossible to know for certain.
lolno. There's tons of characters in Mass Effect that are simply evil. Obviously the Reapers are pretty much the definition of evil. Kai Leng was filth long before he got indoctrinated, as is shown in the books. Ditto for Saren. Saren murdered and tortured people for no good reason. Balak is a terrorist coward. How about Dr. Saleon? There was a real sweetheart. Nassana Dantius? Her sister too while we're at it. Pel deserved a slow, horrible death. The space ogre Shadow Broker had exactly zero good qualities. Need I go on?

Hmm personally I don't believe in good and evil per say. In fact you could argue that Morinth was a tragic victim of a horrible genetic disease that affected her judgement beyond her controll (as opposed to the other ardat who could controll it). Kai Leng as well a victim through the indoctrination.
No. Morinth made a conscious decision to become a serial killer who murdered those who trusted or even loved her. She is evil. No if's, and's or but's. And again, Kai Leng was a revolting excuse for a human being long before Reaper tech.

I couldn't care less what colour or species they are. It's a team game. I've seen no Batarians, for example, that have exhibited any behaviour they're associated with in the SP game. Therefore they're absolutely fine.
In my fairly recent and reasonably wide experience (I'm military), it's an individual person's traits that make them dislikeable or likeable rather then a made up generalisation others are stupid enough to believe. I've been fortunate enough to meet some wonderful people of all faiths and colours.
Speaking of stupid enough to believe generalizations, it's pretty stupid to generalize all alien species by humans. Yes, humans are not inherently evil. News flash, just because someone who shares 99.999999% of the same DNA as you turns out not to be all that different doesn't mean that a species that shares 0% of the same DNA isn't any different.
Gah. Screw it. There's too many stupid posts here to respond to them all.

Not being happy when you play with a race in the game is not, what shall I say, very normal or healthy behavior.

I thought it was always Imperials vs Rebel scum?JerZeyCJ2 wrote...
Never heard of people refusing to play/revive others of races they don't like, but I have seen fictional racism on forums before. It's usually interesting and in role play or lightheartedness(saw it a lot of the Skyrim forums pre-release, we would get into pages long "arguments" about which race was inferior or superior, usually involved the dark elves and argonians)
I probably grief batarians too much in game. One poor bastard was using a melee build and I kept sniping his targets.
But batarians are still filthy scum.

Oh yeah, there was also the Stormcloaks vs. Imperials thing, forgot about that, but that was less race focused.Ledgend1221 wrote...

Good and evil is purely subjective and very relative.
And personally I doubt that most people have made one truely rational conscious decision in all of their lives.
We are far too much bound by our instincts and our upbringing.
I'd say that everyone devalues other people and prioritises according to this:
1. Themselves.
2. Loved ones.
3. People you identify with / have common values with.
4. Strangers.
We could take a poll on who have: Donated a kidney to, gave up car number 2, gave up having kids for the sake of kategory 1, 2, 3 and 4 but I think the results are pretty much given.
Sure there are people who risk their lives for strangers but once again it's still selfserving. As in eg. "I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I had done nothing" / helping people makes me fuzzy inside (which any good kiss could do as well).
We aren't anything but rats pressing an orgasm / goodie / whatever we were taught is good button...
