If we accept the standard definition of 'evil' as extremely selfish, with a thirst for power and a lack of empathy, then how are you going to make a party composed entirely of these types of people? It would be chaos. Like trying to herd cats.

These characters don't make good followers. They are (or should be) too willful and independent to merely be following the player around.

Ooh, cats. I like cats.

*ahem*

But, on topic, I agree here. They kind of lack the necessary requirements for a good follower. They COULD maybe be with us for a while, perhaps do something like what Isabella did.

Yeah, but Sten's a Qunari. I expect them to be stupid and evil in the pursuit of "following the Qun" or whatever.

I was hoping people would get it through their heads that the Qun is Lawful Neutral.

No.  They're lawful lawful.  At times they remind me of people who study shaolin kung-fu.

Define 'pure evil'.

Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine.

Then you read the books, find out Palpatine was actually a pretty good Emperor to some and had he lived would've been prepared for an invasion which devastated countless planets and killed millions.

Hell--ignoring the books--they had to throw in the scene at the end of ROTJ where everyone was cheering because so many people were constantly arguing whether or not killing the Emperor would cause the Empire to be happy and change it's ways (considering the Empire is still the majority and powerful at the time).

As long as I don't get anymore spastic zealots like Anders and Fenris I'm happy.

This.

Actually, I wouldn't mind another Fenris, but not the former. Just no...

You can't really have a pure evil companion. If that was the case, would they even follow you in the first place? Even if you, yourself, are evil, someone who's pure evil wont take orders from someone else. That's just not how it works.

That's not true at all.

I'd like there to be someone like Grimgnaw from NWN. Not strictly evil, but maniac for sure. Just for fun, you know.

Please, understand that there are no pure evil! In a game like Dragon Age there can only be a wast grey zone, a tough balance between "good" and "evil".

I'd like an itelligent "evil" companion who has logic behind the conversations and ideas.

Personally I think that we need complex, interesting characters with their own, probably difficult past and problems. Although it`s pretty common that "bad guys" have a much more interesting backstory.
