If IT or "Wake-up" DLC is released, should it be free or paid?

I personally wouldn't mind if it was paid, as I really want a clearer and less ambiguous, speculative ending to the story, and I don't think a pay wall would stop me from attaining that wish.

However, I do think that maybe the IT "wake-up" style DLC that will probably come out next year could easily be free. Especially if there is only a small portion of gameplay and a few cutscenes.

If this kind of DLC was announced would you be okay with paying or would you demand it be free?

edit: I would pay $100 if I had to :P

If this happens, I´d dance dance dance. It should be free, but I think I´d pay... 20 bucks.

Aw, I think I am kidding myself. Even more.

I think the developers have firmly expressed their stance on this subject. The ending is what it is and there will not be an alternative ending. If they wanted to include the IT theory as part of their story, they would have done it.

The original ending is what it was, incomplete. It felt as if the writers were deliberately leaving us as an audience to assume a lot of what was going on towards the end and it didn't pay off. It was too much, so the Extended Cut gave us the visually clarity we needed. And that's it.

And to actually answer your question; if they did randomly decide to throw in the IT, it would be paid for. EA pay for all the FREE multiplayer DLC, I don't think they'd also want to pay for a new ending. Plus, the EC was just under 2GB (the maximum size you can upload extra content on XBL). 2GB isn''t enough to grant us this new ending that so many of 'us' desire.

even if it happen, it will be paid - you have already recieved unfinished product which need dlcs to make a sense or atleast they are saying that, despite that not my kind of rational explanation.

at this point, if it does happen, i think it would be the next mass effect game. to me this makes way more sense than any kind of spin off or prequel.

I haven't actually read up on the IT, but only one thing is important - does it permit Shepard to survive and reunite with their LI?

If so, BioWare/EA could extort me for a lot of my money. They wouldn't necessarily earn as much respect (if any) as they would if they were to do it for free, but they'd still get my monies.

yes. IT essentially means that all of the symbolic stuff was part of a dream that tested shepards will, allowing him/her to then rise again against all odds and finally defeat the reapers like the badass he/she is.

While most dream storylines are lame, I think this is one of the few that could be truly excellent and feel they are probably going to do it, but that is off topic.

If it were to come out as a response to people's requests, then they could charge for it.

But the whole thing is in far too deep a hole to ever see the light of day. I would appreciate it, since I hate the way the story ended to the point where I would gladly pay for it to be changed. But a lot of people out there would rage over it, whether it's because they liked the original story or they thought that it should be free.

Fair point, if it was a response to fans, I woudn't see how anyone could be upset about a price put on it :P)

It was built by conspiracy theorist logic and is fueled by rampant denialism.

If it's related to the Indoctrination Theory, then it should not exist. You don't fix a bad ending by replacing it with a non-ending.

If Bioware ever used IT, it should get retconned on release already. That whole theory remains a stupid Matrix 3 ripoff.

It would make sense.

Sell DLC=> Game=> SPECULATION =>sell DLC=> More SPECULATION => sell DLC [...] => sell IT DLC => SPECULATION ends => sell a bit more DLC => sell some Collector´s Editions.

I do not believe it, honestly I would be more than suprised. But it would make sense.

They should do this:
http://social.biowar...61/407#10560783

Or something similar, IT is overused already, I would like to see an alternative "power/force"that rivals IT ( which IMO would be the prothean ability to touch something and know what's going on instantly)

I think it should be free, not because I am a cheapskate but because fo the principle, it's like going to the cinema's and right before the movie ends a stock image appears and a voiceover tells you that in order to have a decent ending you will have to pay and if "we "reach a 100 miljon we will make a fitting end...utter bollocks, don't understand why the videogame industry  hasn't matured on this part, it has matured on using consumers as cashcows, why not on the benefits as well

I think this thread should be closed, because it has no other purpose but trolling and provoking negative reaction...

...This thread is one more example why all "IT" discussions should be moved to fan-fiction section of the forums.

Yes this works, but only one time...... after that you will lose valueable customers.
For all the so called business people they have hired at Bioware/EA, I think it's shamefull that they do this..
