If you play games that's good enough for me. No need to get all sexist, elitist, and hardcore.

there is no problem with females in the gaming community.

However, most girl gamers seem to use their gender as a tool. Simply because they have vaginas, they think they are special and should be treatred specially. A guy will make a video blog on his headshots in an fps, and people will give feedback, praise, and constructive criticism. A girl will make a video blog, CLEARLY STATE that she has a vagina, and make a video on situations that even a 10 year old kid can handle. She is given much attention and praise. Whenever a girl accomplishes something in the gaming community, her gender automatically multiplies her attention.

Many girls don't understand where the true classic gameplay elements came from, and prefer to play video games with large communities, flashy graphics, and friendly stories. I have not seen a single female ever play the classics: GTA, Half life, diablo, super mario bros, doom, fallout, halo 1 (hell even this is now outdated in terms of graphics), and I very rarely see girls in the RTS or RTT community

OH SINCE WHEN???   Lol number one stereotype of females on the Net..."they use their seductive charms"

Give me a break.

You know who that is?   Really?   I know a few guys like that.   They play female characters, then they do everything they can to con some other male gamer out of their money and "phat lewts"     Meanwhile the injured party is convinced it was one of us.

T'aint so.

My dear boy, you have mentioned a bunch of games that I enjoy. GTA, Super Mario Brothers, Doom, Fallout, and Halo. I also enjoy Boarderlands. I think your sweeping generalizations is where you lose people. Your arguments have faulty logic. *shrug*
Also, I hate that there are girls who expect to be treated lightly. I want equality, not special treatment. I don't want some guy thinking that because I'm a girl he needs to go easy on me or that because I have a vagina I'm somehow instantly a worse player. I've been playing games from a very young age starting with games such as Ghouls and Ghost ( I think that was the name) to now with games like Boarderlands, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, etc. You ask why girls like games with stories? I wasn't aware that only they did. I believe that many people enjoy games with a story, something that you can invest hours in and feel like you are gaining something. *shrug*

congragulations, one woman defies an accurate generalization based on statistics. Lets take a female activity for example: shopping for unecessary clothing. Do men do it? sure they do, but very few of them do it, and they are called homosexuals. Said homosexuals exist, but are rare in western society's predominantly intolerant views. So it is accurate to say that most men prefer not to shop.

Similar to girls and video games. Since you are special, we give you a special name. there is no equality in gaming. girl gamers automatically attract the attention of all horny white bois in a radius of 20 km.

I didnt ask why girls like games with stories. I love stories myself, I just said girls would rather play a game with a story, then lets say counter strike, with no other reason except that counter strike has no story

I entered Second Life...ONCE because I was curious ..due to the hype I had been hearing.

Horrid graphics...first thing I saw right off the bat.   Didn't look like any game I was familiar with..so I turned around, left and deleted my account on the spot.

I'm a gamer...just looked like "playing house" to me lol.     Not my style.

I did the same:

DL'd - installed - entered -  walked around for 20 seconds -  logged off -  uninstalled.

Like I said, consider yourself a double rarity; Paradox is quite "underground" in comparison to Creative Assembly and other "big boys" in the strategy world; and also not many females play those games.

That's really awesome. Seriously, I'm envious.

You know, I have to wonder if more girls don't play these games because they are generally labeled as male games. I've noticed that you see so many guys who are either threatened or something to where they harrass the females that do play these games. I would say that it turns them off of playing these types of games.
I think that perhaps if we stop looking at females as weaker players or as unable to play a certain type of game and instead just focus on the fact that you are a gamer, then perhaps there would be less hostility.

well its true isnt it?

all women are fat men or FBI agents

if proven female, assume fat > ugly > social problems

then after those tests are passed, assume > has boyfriend > boyfriend forced girl to play

then after that, you have a real "girl" gamer

The trouble is...if you "dare" to admit your female ..you get one of two responses..either they are all over you like a dog in heat...OR..they state that you don't exist at all..and of course have to really be a man.

Reasoning being that.."gurls" don't play online games you see.

Not all women shop for unnecessary clothing.

Not all men who shop for unnecessary clothing are homosexuals.

You have a very skewed and closeminded outlook on life. Perhaps you should leave the safety of the interwebz and see for yourself.

Yes and no. I´m sure that many females play Civilization or Total War series because they look fanzy and are packed with eye-ravishing stuff. Just like guys, basicaly.

I do not for a very simple reason: I´m a grognard. Yes, one of those insane guys who played a whole campaign of World in Flames (the board game) with Soviet Union for months and actually won. For the extra info; a couple girls played it with me at the same time as my allies (Spain and  Mongolia respectively) and they did some of the most awesome stuff I have ever seen inb my life.

Oh well, maybe the fact that I have a full degree in History may explain a bit too... :P

That, I think; is the real problem. These games are not attractive to most of the gaming population because they´re not puting you awesome graphics and force you to take a loooong time to get results. I understand that many players do nof find fun on that; I do.

Then again, this is reduplicated with a traditional, not necessarily hostility, but sense of WTF? when a lady joins. Just like most of the Death Metal fans I know are male, the terrible truth is that females are there because they are forced by their significant other or... because they truly like it; and these ones are the really awesome ladies because they´re like diamonds: underground in a underground comunity.

You know what I would love to death?   That my husband would at least try one or two of these games..with me,  that has been a long time wish, but he refuses.

I play for self-challenges,  I make myself goals to beat in every game I play,  have always done so.    If its an MMO,  I am interested in joining GOOD guilds..where we can all do stuff together.   I don't take handouts from guys..never have, never will.

Most times I get told I am too independent, because ..I basically go off and do my own thing ingame, whatever game it might be.

I don't need my hand held, and I don't need "THAT" kind of attention..from others.   You want to be friends, friendly..sure thing.....I don't have a problem at all with being friends.

You cannot ask the average human to join you on a World in Flames game because... well; it lasts literaly for months; and you cannot expect everybody to join something like that.

But games such as Hearts of Iron (III at least) allow you to play cooperatively so you both can take, let´s say, Australia, to invade Japan...
