Otherwise, a female Qunari sounds like a neat idea. I'm not really fussed to get crazy with the companions, I think humans, elves, and dwarves are quite all right for all intents and purposes.

At least an elf and dwarf of each gender (sorely lacks female dwarves) and one Kossith. Since the Kossith will probably be male, I'd say a female Fade Spirit (mage?) in the style of Justice from Awakening.

But I could live with one in my party.
I'd like to have a Ash Warrior in my team. And of course Elf and Dwarves.
If we should have Human companions (outside the Ash Warrior), I'd like them to be mage.

For non-romance: female dwarf (IT'S TIME)
By non-romance, I mean I would not romance her, but I hope she would be romanceable for those who want to.

I like the idea of a Dalish elf awakened from their slumber, I have always wanted to learn more about the Elvhen history.
They won't be Dalish, they'd have to be from the age of Arlathan--the Dales weren't an elven homeland until long after the elves had "quickened" and lost their immortality.
I'd support this, though, maybe they won't be all weaksauce like their modern counterparts. Actually, ANY elven companion who isn't weaksauce would be nice. Forget this "oh I was a slave to mages/the crows" and "oh I must recover my people's lost history" crap. Let's go more with:

- a qunari mage handler
- two dwarves (one of them a budding paragon - the other part of the Shaperate and is recording the paragon's deeds)
- a Libertarian mage who despises blood magic
- an Andrastian heathen who has become the voice of Liliana's version of the Maker, is gaining followers, and becoming a dangerous reformer
I've got more - but I've gotta go.

Darkspawn, no, If you were having a spirit from the fade it might as well be the desire demon. Female Qunari? Maybe Tal Vashoth, the qunari are very strict with women.
by fade spirit I ment like Justic(without the crazy part in DA 2), maybe even someone who served the maker befor the fall of his city) a demon and a fade spirit in one place is bound to be interesting. And a female Qunari doesn't nessacerily has to be Tal Vashoth, Sten is the new Arishok now and in DA:O we helped to become a bit more liberal. Maybe he changed things...

During the Qunari Mage quests in DA2 I was thinking that he could become a companion. Alas, it didn't happen. The mystery surrounding Qunari mages is fascinating and would offer a lot to explore. I felt bad when there was no way to change this guy's outcome.

I read somewhere that in early development he was supposed to be a companion, but they decided otherwise. I don't know if it's true, but in DAO Jowan was supposed to be recruited (I'd say as a Warden) but the idea was abandoned. It happens during development.
