Characters aren't exclusively written to be like-able, charming ones who everyone wants to invite over for drinks. They're written to generate a reaction. A polarizing character with devoted fans and breathlessly bitter enemies is a highly successful one. The fact threads like this exist as well as those professing their love of Anders do is evidence of his being one of the more successful characters. I bet the writers would love to be able to reproduce the kind of response he got in future characters.
The worst thing that could happen is for a character to generate no reaction, no feedback, no energy, and no passion.

I wonder if you guys understand how a hate thread basically comes off as an endorsement of the character's success, right?

Ah, this is very, very true and something I've been told many times in some of my writing courses. The mark of a successful character is definitely passion, whether it's love or hate.

There have been characters who would be somewhere between annoying and plain unlikeable (at least in certain aspects) in video games before - Morrigan in DA:O, Bishop in NWN 2, Canderous Ordo in KotOR, etc. Yet you don't find many outright hate threads about them.
What truly annoys me about Anders is not just his personality, it's the fact that it's so hard to get rid of him. If I could have taken his deep roads map and would have never heard from him again, he would have received all the apathy he deserves from me. But no, he somehow leaves his manifesto in my house. Quests pop up in my journal that tell me to go talk to him. No other mages with healing spells seemed to be available either. If you take your sibling to the deep roads without Anders in the group, aw damn!
I know he's an abomination, and I can't do anything about it. "We know you are associating with a known apostate." ...where was my option to say "You may have heard this before, but I had no choice"?
Writers are welcome to create annoying gits as companions. As long as I can avoid them without penalties. But putting them into my party (you have to pick him up or you can't advance the story) and then giving them plot armor until their big f-up scene is bad. And when people get pissed about that, it doesn't mean that said character was "successful".
I played my first run of DA2 as a mage, so it was no problem (but I would have still preferred to not have him around).
Much later, I started a new game as a warrior.
Got to Kirkwall.
Realized I would need Anders to heal my party.

1. Make Cullen Hate thread
2. Make S-S related thread
3. Make pro or anti sex scenes thread
.....
I'm sorry to say that, OP, but "Make Anders Hate thread" is out of list for quite a long time, I'm afraid...

Please don't bring anders back in any way. And yeah a lot of people killed him but remember that justice died and was brought back (kinda) and anders was my least favorite character since he was so whiny and annoying please don't bring him back or someone like him. This is for pro Mage characters or anti mage characters and by that I mean don't make someone like him for either side. Does anyone agree that they shouldn't bring him back
Another thread about a character you don't like? Really? Just my opinion of course, but it sounds like you are just trying to start up trouble.

Trouble's my middle name: Anders smells like rank cheese.

In conversation, I generally find that whichever choice is closest to 'Shut your filthy abomination mouth' is the best one to use when talking to him.

People with opinions and personalities that bother you exist in real-life and I'm sorry to say they'll exist in various forms of fiction, too.
The OP, who I was addressing, stated that Anders shouldn't be brought back because he was "annoying and whiney". I didn't infer from that description that they were describing his mass murdering terrorist actions.
In my canon playthrough he's dead. I care nothing about the Chantry, so his 'make it go boom' plot twist only ended up swaying my decision insofar as I felt I (as a mage) had to stand up for the templars to show that all mages are not like Anders. In a way, he martyred both himself and my PC, and it was a theme that I really enjoyed headcanoning. So Anders might not show up in my DA3 playthrough, but I loved how his character arc ended up effecting my original plan (to side with the mages).
On a side-note, I find his romance to be very uncomfortable in ACT 3, as he comes off as emotionally manipulative. I stick with Fenris 99% of the time because of this.

Where there any companion that you liked?

I hated Anders in 2. Hated him. I liked him in Awakenings but he was ruined, in my opinion, in 2. Please stop bringing back characters (like Leliana) who are supposed to be dead.
Also, I don't want to see something stupidly ridiculous happen like Justice jumped into Merrill or some other horrible idea.

No Anders and Fenris characters for DA III would be my preference. I'm not saying every companion should be a tough bad-ass, but those two whiny guys were unbearable.
Sigh.
If Martin Luther King Jr. was a BioWare companion, the forums would never stop complaining about how he was always "whining" about equal rights for blacks.
I genuinely hope the writers never take any of this seriously.

Problems make characters interesting, but they went too far with those two, imo. When talking with them or having them in the group (party banter), especially Anders, it seems like they don't have any other topics to talk about.
And that's something which isn't fun for me.
Please feel free to disagree, but being a little less sniffy would fit you.

I stand by my argument as it is written in its entirety.
Why should Anders have anything else to talk about? What if he was consumed by the issue? What if that was the whole point?
Failing that, him doing what he did in Act 3 would have hardly been as believable. Let people disagree about whether or not Anders was "fun," but blowing up a civic building and triggering a rebellion in an act of overt terrorism was something only he could have done. Not a neutered, watered down, laugh-a-minute, happy-go-lucky companion who could stop to appreciate anything other than the plight of mages that the BSN seems to want.
Furthermore anyone who describes characters with legitimate issues as "whiny" gets a side-eye from me forever, so deal with it.

A whiney little **** who does nothing but complain about EVERYTHING the entire game.
Common, guys, Anders was great in role of fanatic (had decent romance story too). I actually liked the fact he stick to his beliefs.
I'd rather they don't bring back someone like Isabella, to be honest. Sure she had a pretty *face*, but story behind her was just... blah.
