uh huh well imo they remind me to much of hobbits just with smaller feet and less facial hair ( not including varric )
I actually can't get past the first hour of LOTR because the main characters are midgets with big hairy feet.

The companion character descriptions have an Elf, a Qunari, a Tevinter human and a spirit/human.
The pictures have one elf and the rest appear human.
I agree. boo. (DA does dwarves well, what a shame).

lol yeah but at least hobbits can use magic.
They can?!? Well now I'm never watching LOTR, that just ruined it for me. Thank you for saving me 7-8 hours of my life.

why does everyone like dwarves so much?
Because Varric and Oghren.
Both are boring and stereotypical characters.
Too bad the whole DA fanbase doesn't share that opinion.
The fact that I exist proves you wrong.
You're the whole of the DA fanbase?
Well, didn't see that coming.

Ahh Sigrun like you and majority of all the other characters in Awakening I felt like they got the short end of the stick when it comes to story. And Anders isn't the same Anders anymore.Eveangaline wrote...

He said the whole fanbase doesn't have the same opinion and you said he was wrong becaue you exist, ergo, you are the entire fanbase.Revenant24 wrote...

On another note, I'd like an explanation on how Oghren and Varric are stereotypical.

He's wrong in saying the WHOLE fanbase likes Dwarves, I'm part of it and I disagree.

A clear case of miscommunication here. When he said the whole does not agree with you, he did not mean the whole disagrees with you. Very rarely does the whole agree with anyone(if ever), but that's not the same as the whole taking the opposite position.
You responded with this understanding and you were responded to with the understanding that you meant something that you did not mean.

Talking about a wasted opportunity to show some new and very unique companions...
90% human companions would be very boring, IMO. Especially in a world like Dragon Age...
I'm just going to assume that's not going to happen. I refuse to believe it until Bioware says something official.

Why would you want to play as a midget?
Why wouldn't you?
I'm 5"11, I don't want to pretend to be 4 feet tall in a game.
Oh boo hoo. I'm 6 feet tall and proud, and dwarves are my favourite race to play.
Also, the fact that a dwarven companion was never mentioned in the survey doesn't mean one doesn't exist. If I remember correctly, the survey also said there will be ten possible companions, yet it only showed a total of eight or so potential companions in both text descriptions and images. And that's assuming the images are all of companions (the scribe lady, for example, seems more likely to be an important non-party NPC).
Heck, that's assuming that any of the people in the survey even end up in the game.

Height doesn't have any barings on the different cultures and philosophies behind the races, and I think it's rather silly to discount a race just because they share a similar height to another. That's a bit like saying the elves are just humans with pointy ears, and that it doesn't matter that their culture, racial thoughts, and way of thinking are different. Their height is all that matters. And they are humans with pointy ears.
Example of different cultures using the Lord of the Ring races:
Hobbits generally don't think about the 'bad' in the world, they know it's there but often times it overlooks them because they aren't a threat. They enjoy a culture of singing and dancing. Their culture is also based on parties and harvest festivals. They all get together for things like birthdays and the like. They are a very community based race.
Dwarves, on the other hand, have a culture based on their ancestors and mining. They are warriors, and often warriors that position themselves right in the thick of battle. They are often portrayed with a fealess nature and honour, though that is sometimes lost on people. They do enjoy drink, but they don't tend to have the happy-go-lucky festive culture that Hobbits are shown to have.

ummm.....it was just a joke if i offended I apologise it's just a game and besides I don't dislike dwarves some of my favorite characters are dwarves varric sigrun and oghren, now if you excuse me i'm going to go play DA;O with my pointy eared human (elf).
Ah, my apologies! You said it a couple of times so the joke went over my head.
I don't mind people not finding a race interesting, as everyone has their preferences, but I just didn't understand some of the arguements being made here, was all.
