Weird animation bugs and game crashes in SOA

My new SOA install has suffered from strange bugs: animations (of monsters and "chunky bits") continue to fight when the monsters are already dead, as long as the poison damage of Valygar (and possibly other effects?) still are active. I can't combat them as they are dead, but they keep combating and damaging me. The Rukh Transmuter in Firkraag's Lair even managed to cast a Cloudkill while already dead.

And now against the Vampires in Firkraag's Lair I get even weirder effects: vampires turn into Dire Wolves under the effect of Web and into Giant Rats under the effect of the Chaos spell.

Even worse, before the battle is over, the game crashes stating 'assertion failed' and then a lot of code that I could not copy. When I click OK on the message, the message cannot be highlight and copied, so I've no log of it. When I click OK the message disappears. But I did see a lot of error messages in the TOB-Ex window. Could it a TOB-Ex -0.21.11.6 Beta bug?

Anyone know of these strange bugs and how I might repair my install?

This was a problem with ToBEX - try googling poison bug ToBEX if you want a bit more information. Updating either ToBEX itself or SCS2 (which now incorporates an updated version) should sort it out.

Apparently updating it on a modded install isn't easy. Here's what I found how an old version can be updated.

For now I'll disable the Poison Fix in ToBEXCore.ini (Poison Fix=0 for anyone reading this topic for encountering the same bug).

Ascension64 mentioned the bug is caused by a Typo:

Oops, I think this was the problem...

creTarget.cdsCurrent.stateFlags &= STATE_POISONED;

Which cleared the STATE_DEAD flag. Should have been |=
There was a similar typo in the disease fix actually if the Slow effect was applied.


But I don't know how to find that line and fix it. Would you know where to find that line and how to edit it? Opening ToBEX.dll with Notepad didn't help.

I had the same problem with Dagger of Venom in SCS BG1 TuTu. I solved it that way:

from TobEx readme:
Upgrading
Remove the entire existing ./TobEx_redist directory within your mod directory.Place the entire new ./TobEx_redist directory within your mod directory.

So I removed the entire /My_Game_Folder/SCS/TobEx_redist directory, placed the new one (v.23) and reinstalled SCS. The problem gone. :)
