Merril is the same size as any other elf. Also the face, how anyone could see her as even being younger than Hawke is a mystery to me.
Shes a sheltered, nerdy, outcast among outcasts, who really doesn't know much of human society, jokes, idoms, etc.(sheltered). Plus she has no problem slaughtering people or letting demons possess children. A winner in my book anyday.
Please don't have an LI like merril

There are people in the real world who are 30 years old who have a lesser grasp on the world then merrill does.
I personally find her head in the clouds, purity of heart and slightly self aware obliviousness to be endearing. She's kinda like Frodo or something
At no point did I ever consider her to be vulnerable or exploitable as a character - if she wanted to she can easily kick some major butt - and she's pretty assertive in-combat when you listen to her banter. I don't think BioWare would be dumb enough to allow the player to take advantage of a character deliberately written in the way some people are misinterpreting her to be.

Liara and Tali were both more naive in ME1 and ME2 respectively then Merrill is IMHO.

Merill was my favorite LI in DA2. She never seemed like a child, just not familiar with how human society works, which considering she has never been exposed to that makes sense. She also had a persona I connected with that the other characters didn't. So in short, have another char/LI like Merill.

I never knew she was LI. And after all i killed her anyway, so it doesn't matter. She could have being a powerful blood mage, but instead was weak and naive fool, that deserved to be crushed into the ashes of history.

Most Elves in DA look quite young. Even Zevran looks much younger than he most likely is. Merrill struck me as somebody in her early 20's.

Between this thread and the Anders one, OP, I'm getting more of an impression of "Please, BioWare, don't include characters with attributes I personally dislike."
If you don't like the characters, don't take them anywhere. Or kill them. Other than their recruitments, there's very little forced interaction with most of the DA2 companions other than Varric.

Yeah my husband did not care for Merrill at all.
Now he did like Tallis though...............ALOT

Merrill is so thoroughly detached from reality at times that I'm tempted to think she has some sort of developmental disorder. Most of Hawke's innuendos and flirtations soar clear over her head. I struggle to believe that she even knows what sex is. I could never romance her because I'd feel like a predator.
But I don't think that Bioware is going to just rehash a character they already did, so I think we're fine.

I think Leliana is a perfect example of how to do a little bit childish but still an amazing romance,with Merill i felt like I was being in a romance with a Mentaly degerated 12 year old.

If people feel uncomfortable with Merril as a LI, there are other options ingame. That's all Maria is trying to say, imo.
