It's a rumor started by dataminers and supported by images hosted by Bioware in the same section as images used in the manifest. So it isn't JUST a rumour. It's a very well-founded rumor that's almost certainly true.

If I can save one, then I can have done the world some good:

Dream of a time in which fans were hungry, desperate things. Imagine, if you will the ravenous masses calling out for more, unsatisfied with every ounce that they receive. Now, consider these starving and pitiful things to breach the barriers of protection to snatch the meals from the hands of those who feed them. The benevolent ones must have some countermeasure...or else their treats will always remained spoiled...

The countermeasure is misdirection, and Volus is its name. Volus is a placeholder name to cause controversy and to keep some secrets...secret.

Still being in denial about the Volus coming at this point is hard to understand, even more than believing the indoctrination theory is true IMO.

I find it very hard to believe that Bioware would do so much for a mere troll. Files about them have been found as well as for the challenges and now pictures. That's just too much for a joke.

2000 hours in MS Paint is not a lot of effort (I surely hope that the joke isn't missed).

Serious, throwing together images in photopshop and illustrator isn't all that difficult, and takes less than a day. It's easy to do, easy to place, and throws the whole community in a little hissy. It isn't a troll so much as a countermeasure.
