More options of weapons are always good. I like to use mace/shield instead of sword/shield on my warriors, I'd hate to see that go away!

The thing about crossbows is, how do you make them worthwhile and distinct from regular bows?
Giving them their own talent tree with their own distinct abilities might be cool.

Removing crossbow is a trend in RPG lately. Morrowind have one, Oblivion and Skyrim don't have it. But in older games like Diablo, crossbow is fun.
In Diablo 2 it is a well implemented. It is slower than bow attacks, but powerful. in Diablo 2 crossbow and bow have the same skill perk. There is also Repeating Crossbow that is faster than other crossbows.
Muskets and gun also a good idea. make it slower firing rate than crossbow, but high damage dealing than a crossbow. If we can make own bullets it will be great. Need alchemy perk for it.
The problem of crossbow and musket is the reloading time. Most players will going rage about reloading time. They want a dinamic combat, firing arrows like shooting with machinegun. DA:O Archery is bad enough with delayed shooting time in Aim and casting, it is bad if reloading time is slow as well
Crossbow in DA:O is bad because have no attribute damage modifier, in which i strongly think it shoud be come from Cunning points. Yeah crossbow is a machine, but doesn't mean we don't need skills to use it. Cunning should be damage modifier for crossbow and musket (and actually for bow too, Dexterity is just for chance to hit)

DAO had them scale off of STR, I believe. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but assuming you wanted your warriors to have some ranged options for ambushes or terrain reasons, they were better off using Xbows. I remember seeing threads for "Xbow tanks" as well, though I never tried it myself.

That'd work. Ideally I'd like them to have bows match the melee weapon set up. You've got quick fire-low damage, moderate fire-moderate damage, slow fire-high damage. Bow, Composite, Cross with at least a separate skill tree for the crossbow though I would like one for the composite as well.

They added crossbows to Skyrim, and that was a decent addition. I wasn't insanely fond of them in DA:O, but I wouldn't mind seeing them return either.
