Lots of disscussion of things people would like to see in DA3. I would like to see shapeshifting revisited in a way that makes it super awesome. It would be cool if a shapeshifting mage simply turned into an animal for a short duration in order to achieve a specific effect. A mage might morph into a huge bear and do a large amount of melee damage to all surrounding enemies. This way the mage would only be an animal for the duration of the attack's animation instead of a sustained ability that removes spell casting.
Another idea might be turning into a wolf in order to shred a single target and make all surrounding enemies flee. A spider could overwhelm one enemy and poison others. The point would be to give a mage the ability to handle close combat with a super cool ability that comes with a fancy animation but doesn't make the mage worthless.
Anyway, that's my suggestion. Can't wait for this game!

I liked sustained shapeshifting in theory (especially since many of the forms moved faster) what I didn't like was how severely limited the forms were.
-> no cast magic
-> only two abilities, which are upgraded to only three
-> strength/dexterity scaling broken, rendering forms almost useless

Definately! And you should be able to pick someone up in your jaws ,fly into the air, and then release them and let them fall back to the ground. Wow...just thinking about that made me the happiest man alive.

I like shapeshifting, I just think the forms need a large buff such that each one is as strong as any other spec in the game that it acts as. I like it being sustained, as well. It's not as cool or unique if it's just a skill that you can utilize for say, 20 seconds, and then get out of.

Or you know they could just make it so you could cast while shapeshifted. It worked in NWN2 (compared to NWN which also didn't let you do that).
Of course it's not like they're going to add shapeshifter back anyway so who cares.

Casting spells in animal form sounds a bit odd, but you could add benefits to certain spells, or even new spells, depending on the form. Bears with magic hats that get a bonus to defensive buffs? Could work, but I'd rather have a really cool animation that ruins mooks at short range.

I fully support super awesome shapeshifting. Really would like to see a massive werewolf boss form where you can basically go one on one with mature dragons but it can only be cast around a lunar cycle which they will implement. but also can't barter in this form because that would be weird

I used a mod for a bit that removed the casting time from shape changes, so you could jump from form to form without waiting, and it made it fun and a lot more useful. I also liked the way your gear effected things, it was kind of cool turning morrigan into a bear tank with some heavy armor and high constitution. Her dps was pathetic though.

I would love to be a spider again XD. But being a dragon or wolf sounds fun! Just grabbing enemies with my teeth and ripping them in half while squashing the other enemies with my claws! Think it about makes me excited as well
