I can't support this, because I want a purely KB + mouse oriented experience as DA:O was, having controller support means that the game would be more similar to DA2 mechanics (a game clearly designed to be played with controllers) and that's not what I want for DA3

What they could do is just have two different UI's for PC.  One for kb and mouse and one for controllers.

It's going to be like that regardless.

I don't think it's just a matter of UI, it has a bigger impact in the games core design.

In DA:O and DA2 you could plug in your controller and manually map things. What some of us would like is to have the console UI also available on the PC so it's actually feasible to play that way. Since the game is designed to work on either the console or PC this won't effect core design, it would just take up some extra resources to implement.

I'm totally behind this idea. I love the graphic quality and intimacy of occasionally playing games on the PC. But I spend all day on a keyboard and mouse. It's nice to come home from work and use a controller.

By that logic Origins was designed to be played with a controller too, since the PC versions of both games have nearly identical control schemes.

It was a terrible console port.  I played DAO first on PS3 then on PC.  The PC version is far superior.  It was obviously designed for PC.

That's the point, DA:O was PC oriented game.... later ported to consoles and crappy control system was the major problem with it.

DA2 was the oposite, clearly designed for consoles, badly adapted to KB + Mouse.

not for Dragon Age

if there going to be controller support, thats mean- no hot keys. But gameplay of DA on PC is all about hot keys & mouse overlook

The controls DA has used on controllers so far have allowed for 6 hot keys. Mouse look is done with the right stick. Besides, this would be an optional feature - when enabling a controller, the interface should change to the console interface.

I just beat DAO with a controller a few hours ago. The only two issues I had with the control scheme are two things I know they fixed in DA2 - an option to have the game remain paused after issuing an order and a click-to-move function. The lack of those two things is pretty much what had reviewers saying the controller controls were lacking in console DAO, and they've both been fixed in DA2 and would likely remain fixed in DA3.

Your game does not have to suffer just because others get options. Or would your DAO KB+mouse experience suffer if they patched in click-to-move and the ability to keep the game paused in a patch for xbox tomorrow?

+1 for controller option request on PC.

I prefer PC gaming (graphics, more open than consoles, etc.), but after a long day of work, I really don't want to sit in front of the keyboard any longer. People have been requesting PC controller support for BW games for years now.

Realistically, the work of making DAIII work on controllers is already being done, and will already be incorporated into the game's design. The gamepad-friendly choices are already being made for consoles, whether or not those options are enabled on PC. In other words, both interfaces are already being developed, whether you prefer one or the other or have no opinion. More choice on PC is hardly a bad thing, and it would make a world of difference to a sizable portion of the gaming community.
