With there being so many bad aspects to DA:2 which people (well certainly myself) wish to forget, and so many potential story limits/constraints + continuity stumbling blocks caused by the interlinked timelines of DA:O & DA:2, just wondering if people would sooner see DA:2 totally dismissed as some sort of dream or something?

I'd buy into DA:2 being nothing more than a Fade-based dream (as they say, the Fade is not quite reality but has aspects of it - that could even explain the change in visual style and overdone spikeyness), possibly a dream designed by a demon to con a nobody (Hawke) into thinking they are a hero and thus doing the demon's bidding in the process.

It's only an idea, but I'd be more than happy to see DA:2 swept under the carpet and DA:O used as the foundation for DA:3

Nope. I enjoyed DA2 despite its flaws and would be extremely annoyed if they tried to sweep the characters and the developments under the carpet.

I would have to say no. I, personally, enjoyed the story and character development of DA2 well enough, but more importantly it set up the Mage/Templar civil war and THAT I am looking forward to. Personally. As in my own opinion. Just sayin'.

I think that would just make the problem worse. Sweeping a whole game under the rug is several orders of magnitude more dramatic than retconning a character here, an event there. And all it would do is upset a different fan demographic.

And besides, there's a lot of lore in DA2, even for the folks who didn't like the game itself. Harder to get rid of a novel's worth of additional information on the world IMO than to scrap the events of the game.

I could see Anders as a remarkably powerful Arcane Horror.

That would be cool! I do like the idea of having your companions from DA:2 turn out to be fade demons or similar.

No. DA2 happened, and it's time to move forward.

it was a bad game, but I wouldn`t want it completely removed either. Poor gaming experience, but the events in it happened.

I don't see any need to retcon DA2 out of existence.

I'm old enough to remember the dream sequence in Dallas and I can tell you, people were NOT happy with that choice for the narrative reboot. That would be a very bad idea. Also, there are players who enjoyed DA2. What about them (me)?

I'm not against having DA:2's events remaining in the timeframe, I just think it'd be a more pleasurable experience to be able to play through all DA:O, and then on to DA:3 without having to refresh your memory of events in DA:2.

I also think it would be a very novel thing to do and could be used to put a demonic spin on characters we already know.

But either way it doesn't really matter, although it is interesting to see how many would be against the idea. I thought that opinons for/against it would be a lot more even.

Nope.

This.

The second Dragon Age is nowhere near the 'quality' [sic] of Highlander 2: The Sickening. I mean Quickening. The 2nd DA had some awful moments (not that DA:O wasn't without its own), but it's not like they retconned the entire lore. Its addition isn't destructive to the DA franchise, I think.

No, people liked the second game and I think there is a good chance they will alienate more people with a decision like that then they would make happy.

Disagree with op  In some ways I enjoyed DA2 better than origins  and hope they continue in that style

Nope, too many awesome characters, and even if Hawke was just a glorified janitor in Kirkwall, he was my glorified janitor.

I don't really understand why you would want to so this. There were a number of things I didn't like about DA2 as a game but the major plot points didn't seem in any way inconsistent or silly.

I'd like soooooooo much to have DA2 wiped out...sigh...

Can't be done, I guess....

but if instead of a dream DA2 was only the telling of one of Varric's books?
if DA2 didn't exist, Anders would still be a mentally (almost) normal person! And wouldn't cry about the mage every three seconds!

Just for this I'd be very happy!

Maybe pull a Highlander 2? Just kinda ignore it and pretend it didn't happen? Seriously, I don't give it too much thought. I've stopped getting bent out of shape after games that disappointed me (or maybe I'm just numb *shoots scornful look at the starchild*). If DA3 is amazing, having DA2 there won't infringe on that at all.

I remember that. Dallas was cancelled after that season or two anyway, no? I know once they killed Bobby there was no saving that show, and the dream sequence only accelerated it's demise.

What's really funny is it is back on TNT . . . and it's the sams **** as it ever was! They won't say what happened to Pam because they are still trying to get Victoria Principle to come back (but she won't).

Anyway - I liked DA2. I LOVED DAO, but I liked DA2. Just leave it be.

I really liked DA2 and I would not like this idea to come true at all.
