Duncan doesn't have a level. Some levels have a Duncan. Level 1? No Duncan. Level 2? Infinitesimal Duncan. Level 3? Breath of Duncan. So on and so forth. However, recall that Duncan doesn't have a level. So no matter how much XP you gain, you'll never quite make it to Duncan.

No, Duncan is Liam Neeson awesome. His presence alone is almost measured off the chart. You don't need levels when you hit Duncan cool.
Edit: BTW, Chuck Norris got his arse whooped by Bruce Lee, so why put Duncan on such a low level. *ducks the Norris is God fans*

Sooooo that explains his sage likedness. Duncan is the Meaning of Life. So whenever life gets you down Mrs Brown, and things seem hard or tough......

Story-wise? I'd say above any level the player character (or any of his/her's companion's) can reach. After all, he's an experienced Grey Warden who's had many years available to master his skills. All the battles he's been through certainly hardened him, in both experience and skill.

Game-wise? Since his name is colored in orange, I'd say 20+. The type of boss who can presumably "threaten a whole party of characters all by himself".

But really... I doubt the dev's actually put much effort into Duncan's skill tree. He doesn't fight anyone in-game...

And who cares? The guy's awesome at any level.

Duncan goes past Chuck Norris, and even Liam Neeson, as much as I love the bastard. He's Sean Connery level, if not higher.

I, Trian the Bold, replace the use of Chuck Norris jokes, with Duncan.

Darkspawn drink Duncan's blood.... to make their taint stronger.

And he doesn't enter the fade when he dreams... the fade IS Duncan's dream.

There were once over 1000.000 Old Gods, but Duncan was so terrifying that all but seven of them left.

I'm gonna say Duncan is level 10 maybe, the only great thing he managed to do was kill a Ogre solo, its not really that hard. I mean he got spanked by an Alpha when no other darkspawn were attacking him come on man, that Ogre never laid a finger on you!

I guess he was out of stamina, hate when that happens, he should have gotten that nifty stamina potion mod, guess his beard didn't save him afterall.

Well not much later in the fade you take on an ogre by yourself. Do not forget that the act of killing the ogre was one out of rage.

I'd measure him around level 15

If You REALLY want to get technical, according to Prima's Guide all orange/red colored character (Depending on how color blind you are) range from 2-3 levels higher than your own...

he is level 0 now, just like all the dead characters, his beard is still off the level scale though and can end up as a one hit god killing whip in the sequel, if it does not start an unstoppable blight of its own because few is known about the beard intentions currently.

Well you were only what level 5 before you left camp, that would make Duncan a max of 8, that pretty sad actually. But for a level 8 to solo an Ogre he must have had some Norris in his mighty beard. Especially without him getting hit once during that particular fight.

He didn't have any stamina regen, he was fighting a whole battle without ever leaving combat!
