After taking the dark promise route yesterday in my first playthrough, im wondering...

What if you all died on the roof as explosion hit? The Scenes afterwards could be some dream - viewing teagans POV seemed to sugguest that abit... I would hate that, its like NWN2 & the rocks perhaps worse. The epilogue saved is just before defeating the archdemon^.

The game was great atleast until landsmeet then it seemed to regress into NWN1 oc..
With weak encounters, barely a sentence of dialogue - no more choices, zero party talks. Infact I beat Archdemon with just my party 5 times just to see different dialogues choices you could take with Anora...it didnt seem like a boss at all (Hard mode, im trying Nightmare next but I doubt that'll change much).

The High dragon was a great battle.

Post coronation - I really liked hearing some NPCs plans for the future..  it seems if any follow up is made some npcs wont be returning

Shale+Wynne traveling to Tevinter,... Id really like to see "shayle" in dwarf form again.
Oghen - staying in Ferelden.
Sten - Back to his homeland.
Alistair (by my choice married Anora)
Loghain - didnt seem to have any plans.
Dog/Nug - no comments.

Do Leliana & Zevran always follow you? in my game i had leli as the romance, she followed me whatever option I took. Zevran also wanted to stick around - perhaps it was the loot i mentioned to him before. Not that im complaining Image IPB

Then it was back to disappointment again as I went thru the doors... expecting to see the crowds, minor npcs in person - lined up. Image IPB Oh well.

Shale becoming dwarf again is a good story screaming to be made into a DLC.

Yep, ending sucked a bit. The epilogue where I died was much more satisfying then the one where I lived oddly enough, and everything going back to Redcliff to get your armies was terrible from a story standpoint. I'm hoping they continue with this characters story simply so I don't have to think about this as the actual ending, even if it's a short DLC or expansion.

Well in a way it makes sense that if you die, your epilogue becomes better. People are so moved and inspired by your sacrifice that saved Ferelden, that they make the effort to become better individuals.

Well I meant it more from a quality standpoint then anything else. If Alistair sacrifices himself he literally becomes chopped liver, only person who mentions him is Wynne and even then you have to drive at it hard and she still brushes it off. The conversations with all the characters are short and somewhat hollow, and the fact it ended so abruptly by simply talking to a guard. Quality wise is just fell so far short of the ending where you sacrificed yourself.

Which may mean you cant really avoid death - especially with so much work put into that ending...
I got the feeling despite the ritual event things werent going to be rosey.

At Defending the gates.. you are seperated from party for awhile which hinted at what was to come. Very downbeat. While i would personally love a follow up/sequel, same character etc, seems like adventures end apart from DLCs.

That and I dont see how any material items can better Dragonbone/star metal...what would a lvl 24 fight? in d&d terms that is epic, but what does this mean in DA terms?

That's so weird, I felt the exact opposite. Well, not exact opposite: I haven't done the ending where Alistair sacrifices himself yet. I felt the self sacrifice ending was really dissapointing, and then my next time through I did the dark gift, and was really happy with the resolution.

So nobody seems to care when Alistair kills himself huh? That DOES sound like it would be dissapointing. Have you done the one where you both live yet? Maybe you feel the same way.

Nah, haven't done the ritual ending yet, may give it a go at sometime though. Honestly though aside from the Alistair bit I'm not sure how much would change. To me when you sacrificed things felt more real, more emotional and the writing and dialogue matched the situation well. The ending where you live, it just felt empty and rushed. The whole thing is subjective obviously, I'll give the ritual a whirl and see what it changes.

@SinYang: Eh, I've argued it a dozen times over on these forums so don't feel like getting into again but all the endings left plenty of room for a return, even the one where you sacrifice yourself, hell a few even hint at it. The whole child business thing I think shows there will be some sort of continuation, and the writers did leave themselves enough room to make it happen with the same PC. An expansion that extends the story and allows for cleaner endings to set up the next book in the story is a plausible scenario in my eyes.
