Mass effect was great but Dragon Age Origins is even better. The character interaction (both with "squad members" and NPCs) is far more dynamic, fluent and lifelike. The game itself is a bit more clumsy and slower. Its a bit more like old school RPGs and less like Call of Duty but for anyone who liked the story of Mass effect and the way your own character influenced the storyline and world, Dragon Age Origins is THE game. Plus if you liked the romances in Mass Effect you will love Dragon Age ^^

Dragon Age is an excellent game. Many many people agree with that assessment.

Both series are equal in character development IMO. I cared about all of them, even the world they were in. Basically, this series has some of the best immersion qualities I've seen in a game. Its Bioware's signature style(until ME3 came out..).
That being said, controls and gameplay are vastly different. You're going from a shooter to an RPG that plays a bit slower than most. So if you don't mind getting used to a new style of gameplay, then Yes, you should play this.

Lets put it this way I wish I could erase this game from my memory so that I could look forward to experiencing it again for the first time. I laughed I cried I got super mad, I hated and I loved I was a hero and an evil butcher it was AWESOMESAUUUUUUUUUUCE!
I did play it on xbox many times but then I purchased it for PC there are a lot of great mods that make the experience even more awesome including many game fixes that let you get the dialogue with characters you were intended to get. The vanilla game has many endgame bugs for dialogue for almost all the main cast of characters but even without the fixes the game is still amazing. I suggest getting the PC version

Dragon Age: Origins is by far my favorite game.....ever! The first time I played DA:O I was blown away that I actually cared for the characters in a game. I had to think decisions through, and sometimes found myself just in camp, listening to anything my party members had to say, or going through the codex just to learn a little more about the world I was experiencing. I played on the PS3, and am very much against buying a game twice, but I saw a deal for the PC version of DA:O Ultimate, and DA2 both for $10 a few months back, and though I couldn't play them on that particular computer (OLD as Dirt) I bought them anyway.
So making an overly long post short: Yes, well worth your time, and money.

It's a nice game, one of the few i played more than 10 minutes.
I probably started a new game 25 times or so.
But it is nothing compared to Spellforce 1, then again, nothing is

Dragon Age Origins is epic. Even though characters like Alistar, Morrigan e.t.c. are just simply, well characters in a game you most likely will start to get feelings for them, you start to like them. I know it sounds like I am some forever alone guy sitting in my mom's basement but that's not the case, I promise you
. Nearly all of my friends thinks this is one of the best game they've ever played.

Hi,
I normally HATE these type of games; because I usually hate combat and killing; but Origin was giving away free copies of Dragon Age Origins, and I thought what the heck its free? So I installed and started playing it; and then when I found out about character interactions; I loved it even more.I have played it at least 15 times since getting it, it never gets old.XD
@Behera- I know exactly what you mean. Some of the scenes in this gam make me cry; I know Alistiar's just well a video game character; but I love his personality.
