I don't see Loghain as a companion, if only because he's probably dead in most games. He's alive and kicking and in Orlais in my game, so at most, I would hope he has a cameo. It's more than 10 years after the Blight and considering his age, it's probably close to the right time for him to head to the Deep Roads. I would really like getting a final chance for me, as the player, to say goodbye, even if my Warden can't.

This.  They did some retconning of DA:O Cullen to produce DA2 Cullen, same as with Anders.  I personally found Cullen creepy and disturbing as all hell after his outburst during Broken Circle, so I was glad when he turned out saner in DA2, if a bit wary of him at first.  I quite liked the guy, and if he's in DA3, I'm curious to see which direction he goes.

As for the rumored magister, it'd be nice to have a change of pace from the broody guys.  Maybe a snarky bad boy.  I miss my snarky bad boys.

I'm not so sure I'd call it retconning, unless you count the epilogue slide where he murders a bunch of mages as canon, and the devs have said epilogue slides are not canon. He's still wary and cautious in Act I, following the mage and attempting to beat him into turning abomination. (Which, he rightfully was, but still.) Then not much later was the "mages aren't people" bit. He only seems to change when he sees how Meredith treats the mages and isn't sure if he's doing what Meredith commands or what the Templar Order commands. The choices he makes at the end of Act III are to stop Meredith and not because we know he's had a change of heart when it comes to mages.

So, I'm not sure Gaider is willing to let go of crazy, obsessive Cullen, if only because he seemed to describe the hair brushing bit with such glee. I can easily see Cullen on a knife's edge with regard to his duty. He killed his commander, after all. Yes, a possessed, insane commander, but she was still a Templar. Should he have seen it sooner? Was there something else he could have done? And only because it's Bioware, I can easily see them sending him off the deep end because he can't reconcile the idea that mages are people with his duty as a Templar.

Ah, I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of that.  Thanks for clarifying 

Perhaps Cullen just comes off as saner in DA2 because literally everyone else is bat****.  By act 3 of DA2 a rabid vampire bat could take over as Viscount and I'd go, "Meh, could be worse."

I hope that no companion is plot armored and all are totally optional. It would be cool to have totally different companion mix each playthrough.

I definitly like to see Cassandra as a companion/love interest the other 9 I don't really care but I would rather all 10 new companions or at least 7 and 3 returning but not Morrigan or Isabella. Mainly because Morrigan is w/ my Warden beyone the mirror and Isabella is w/ my Hawke & that Morrigan is going to be a main factor in future DA games if not DA3:I and Isabella was said to have gone w/ Hawke.

2. Oghren
3. And tie between Bethany (DAII), Velanna (DA:OA), Fenris (DAII) and Ariane (Witch Hunt)

The two best dwarves adn the rest are the best elves. Bethany being the exception and I know that it'd be hard to include her because of the diffent outcomes. But please make CASSANDRA a love interest if nothing else!

 Personally I'd rather not have any returning characters at all.  Make the slate as blank as possible.  Otherwise there will inevitably be comparisons between the "old" character and the "new one":
