Seriously, why else would he have written about Orlesians???
I don't really get how you could think he 'hates' them. They seem depicted as pretty much all the rest of the human nations, a mixed bag of saints, sinners and in-betweens. I mean, look at Leiliana. She's got a pet bunny-pig called schmooples. Does she sound like an object of hate?
If you're talking about Orlesian disdain for Fereldan ("This whole country smells of wet dog!"), that's nothing to do with Gaider's personal likes. As a British guy who has a few French friends, believe me, I've heard that kind of talk before

The English: "Yeah, we hate the French!"
Eddie Izzard: "So what about the Welsh?"
The English: "Oh yeah, we hate them!"
Eddie Izzard: "Why?"
The English: "..Noo reason..."
Eddie Izzard: "And the Americans?"
The English: "Oh yeah, we hate the Americans"

Lol, though come to think of it, we have been to war with all of them and to be honest, I can't think of a place we haven't been to war with. It's a much shorter list thats for certain.

You're kidding, right? We seem to make a specialty out of forgetting (or misinterpreting) history! As long as France does what we want, we're all friendly, but let their government think for themselves and it's embarassing epithets like "freedom fries" and "cheese-eating surrender monkeys," or historical misinterpretations like "we saved your bacon during WWII." In either case, no one mentions the help of the French during the American Revolution.

But to the OP no, seriously no french hate in DAO. They do play on a few stereotypes, but that's all, because this whole Orlesian/Fereldan business smells a lot like France/Brit (The way allistair explain to Leli how they make proper stew in ferelden
That said these fake french accents gave me a good laugh. Even if, well, Leli's one still is really cute.

I wonder as time, progresses in the DA universe, will the Orlesians develop a similar "surrender reflex"? Will they descend into wimpiness as the Fereldans grow in power under the strong leadership of the Grey Warden and King David Cousland.?
Considering that the "surrender monkey" gibe only arose quite recently (WW2), it will be quite some time, I imagine. Depending from what era of history the writers choose to draw inspiration, Britain/Ferelden could remain a relatively powerless backwater while France/Orlais is militarily ascendant. This dynamic could change given that the writers likely aren't going to copy historical developments, but despite driving back the Blight I don't think Ferelden has the strength to take on Orlais just yet.

I always find it funny how people say us like they were there even if like 15 years old. But then again, I'm not particularly patriotic.
