One suggestion: could you make the choice of gender have more importance?

Personally I liked the distinctions made based on gender (and class, race, sexual orientation, etc...). It made the game more believable for me. In real life people make assumptions, including those who claim to only base one's merits on their actions (sometimes it's those who push for tolerance who are some of the most in-tolerant). It's a natural part of being human (and from what I've seen, elven, dwarven and certainly kossith/qunari too).

That said, to me females in Dragon Age actually seem to have a stronger presence than males do. Women are priests of the Chantry, most of the leading, central characters are female (Cassandra, Leliana, Morrigan, Flemeth, Isabella, heck even Andraste!), and even with some of the odd remarks, you can see clearly women can become warriors and mercenaries quite easily in the world of Thedas. Plus both the human Chantry AND qunari only employ female priests (poor Sebastian and his devotion to the Maker...). In fact I'd like to see one or two stronger central male characters (that aren't antagonists) such as Varric for balance.

Personally I do play both male and female PCs of all sexual orientations (male/female, female/male, male/male, female/female). I would not want my female PC to be constantly hit on by every male that comes across just as I would not want every female character throwing themselves on my male PC. But I don't mind there being distinctions so long as it doesn't affect gameplay. Thedas, while certainly more forward and progressive (they're more worried about if you're a mage or elf than your gender), is not meant to be a politically correct utopia where everyone is a hollow husk defined only by what they do. Even if it were, people have experiences and attitudes that shape them, and to say that everyone, even in a game world, bases everything on your 'merit' rather than appearance, is completely un-realistic (just like the idea of everyone being bisexual just to please a fan base. Most people do have a preference for one gender or another).

I'd rather just see a vibrant world where different people have different views, even if I don't agree with them. Most don't seem to care about your race, gender, or heck even class but are more worried about whether you could help them or not. They simply don't have the time to know your character's life story or origin but care about the here and now. But it shouldn't stop the occasional oddball or jerk for making an out of line comment (especially if you get the chance to put them in their place or understand their views by examining their motives). Makes the game more believable, and human, to me.
