In my endless exploration of the web I have come across a couple of tools that some of you may have a use for. I haven't included them in the sticky because they are too specialised.

The first is a case of overkill if ever I saw one - the size of the download is 129m!!! It is called Lightworks. It is a proffessional standard, video editing app that comes in a free and a (paid for) pro edition. It has been used on such movies as "Braveheart", "Bruce Almighty" and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

The second is the yEd Graph Editor. It is a tool for the creation of hierarchical drawings (e.g. flow-charts etc.). The reason I am bringing this to the comminities attention is that I have previously seen similar drawings used by  some pw's as a map of thier site. This free tool could prove quite useful for them or anyone who designs a large module. For the latter group my suggestion is that this tool could be an aid to keeping track of which areas connect to which others.

Anyway I hope somebody may find one or both of these useful.

i used a combination of the mini-map extractor, photoshop, and the google maps API to create my PW's overland maps.  here's an example:

and here's my tutorial for it in the vault:

Not, not bad at all. My personally preferred image splitting tool is TileMage, which I have made extensive use of, for the additional maps I made for map mats (link in my sig) and the september 2012 custom content challenge. My only concern with your system would be in giving players too much information before they had earned it. Thankfully that wasn't my decision to make.:)

<wishing he was...>

@ ACD: Voted on your Tute a long time ago :-) Did it ever get on ShadowM's Tutorial list?

@ Tarot: Cool beans! Been wanting a flow-charter for something. And the Tilemage thing might come in handy, too. Did they ever get posted to Ben's Tools list?

@Rolo - Nope they never did, as I didn't think they were appropriate for that list. BTW Did you check out Lightworks? I think its an awesome *Free* tool (like I totally ott for the little movies we make for our modules probably better for machinima).

<looking very silly...>

Downloaded it, but am a *wee* bit busy, at the mo ;-)
*Looks* good, though.

And I think they *are* appropriate. Anything that contributes to creating stuff for NwN...

@Rolo now I come to think about it I can't actually remember if TileMage made it onto that list or not... I'll have to double check.

EVE she is lovely and you should have a look at her

www.goosee.com

Excellent for all sorts of diagram work - free, small, vector graphics (import your images of areas and you can assemble them like tiles).

Be well. Game on.
