It's funny... all of the complaining from anti-volus people the past few days has illicited approx. 800,000 "lol at the butthurt" and "tears of whiners are delicious" posts. Now it's the pro-volus crowd doing the QQing. I don't know whether that's funnier, or the fact that the anti-volus crowd isn't spouting that stupid "butthurt" thing back.

Isn't kicking volus a pre-emptive sort of butthurt? Like they had to be butthurt to kick and cry to begin with. Just saying.

Only crying and... "butthurt" I'm seeing right now is from the pro-volus crowd because they don't like a fair kick system.

Oh very well.

you seem to be completely dead set on ignoring everything I'm saying, so I'm just gonna do the adult thing and leave.

Have fun unbunching your panties over something so insignificant.

How very adult of you, I do enjoy the insults.

And no I didnt ignore anything you said. I gave reasoned rebuttals to each an every point you tried to make while not insulting you.

Now then have a nice day (and yes I am serious about this)

And I am not so sure you understand what even you are saying. If they added Volus soldiers as canon in the SP storyline in any of the three games then I would have absolutely no issue with them being in MP. But that is because it has been established that they do have soldiers capable of performing spec ops missions such as the ones in MP.

As they did not do such a thing (thank goodness since doing it in ME3 would have really messed with some things and turned it into a WTF) it is a violation of their species core history.

Wait, so you are okay with them messing up the lore by suddenly adding them in SP, but if they leave the lore alone and simply add them as a fun diversion in MP (where it has no bearing on lore whatsoever) you fly into a vote kicking rage? Doesn't that seem a little backwards to you?

Read the bolded selection again....

If they added Volus soldiers as canon in the SP storyline (which would in turn modify their basic lore) they would be acceptable in MP.

But as of yet no such modification has been made. Hell I would even take a codex update which elaborates on Volus soldiers taking the fight to alien enemies. That would be more then enough to warrent their inclusion in MP.

And no its not backwards because MP is still founded upon the core ideas that the ME lore established. Violation of those core ideas is not acceptable to me and thats exactly what I see them doing.

How about this, I throw in the Drones from Halo into ME3 MP as a playable character. Its not in lore so it must be acceptable right??? Its just for fun right??? "Fun" is a perspective, not a constant. If you just willy nilly add anything you like to MP with out some sort of lore connection then the game is fundimentally broken as you could have Link fighting Zeus on Feros and Link can use the force while Zeus has a Big Daddy to help him.... See how messed up that crap is?

Yes MP isnt bound by all the same rules as SP but it still needs to follow the core ideas of the universes lore. Adding the Volus in MP violates those ideas.

Well, I guess you wont survive long in a zombie apocalyspe, since according to you IT IS COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE to get some gear and fight when your very survival is a stake. According to the lore, these "spec ops" groups we are playing as are just anyone Hackette could find to hold a gun and fight, especially later in the timeline. If a volus spent some cash, got some kinetic barriers, tech, and a gun, you really think Hackett would turn down any help in that situation, especially help that is essentially a cloaking combat medic?

Face it, they are not breaking lore in any way, even if they were slightly (they arent) it wouldn't matter since they are still based in the ME universe unlike the cross universe thing you suggested. They're abilities are just as much an asset to a team as having high damage, if you play them right (which applies to any character).

You can continue to argue if you wish, but you are empirically wrong on all counts.

@OP While I don't think it's right for people to kick you because you're a Volus (I once got kicked because I was a level one character...on bronze. What the hell was that about?) you're arguments are a little...stupid.
All that aside, just play on a lower difficulty or something, I'm sure you're less likely to get kicked then.

More over why are we playing at locations within the ME universe? Even more specific, several locations used within the SP storyline? Why are we not playing on a Halo, or in a disc hall from the 70s? How about Atlantis, Yavin IV, Hoth, Deep Space 9?

Because lore is the underlying foundation which the game relies upon in order to function.

Nothing is fair when prejudice is involved. Close-mindedness is the bane of a successful stretegy. Do the volus have a niche? yes, they're medics and debuffers. Do they have a place in gold/plat? Yes, but they are going to be busy debuffing and healing so don't expect a high score. Chris Schanche said the reason they were created is because they thought it would be nice to have as a support role. Should volus be kicked because they're volus? No. Should they be kicked because the user is score-hungry and too ballsy in combat? Yes. Kicking them just because they are X class is shorsighted and close-minded. Am I butthurt? No, actually. All the games I've been in I haven't recieved a red X yet, and I've been on gold/plat and those were successful, full extraction games. Some people need to pull the sticks out of their asses over lore and lighten up to enjoy the experience we've been given.

If the vote doesnt go through I leave the lobby. If a Volus joins an ongoing game of mine I leave the game. They are still able to play. They are still able to have fun. They still participate, just not with me.

So what exactly DO you need in your team, how badly do they need to carry you so you can accrue credits? We'll put it on a rider with "no volus" in bold. Because all I'm hearing from folks like you is that they make poor teammates (after how many matches?) So maybe either you need to be a more self-sufficient player or maybe only play with GIs.

The volus is a walking shield pylon. If you have good enough player with it, your team will never go down in most matches. Just have no illusions of your role. Won't kick volus from my lobbies. will kick anyone that does.

hahahahha autokicking Volus because it doesn't "fit into the lore" man... you people have some SERIOUS growing up to do!

In a fictional video game lore is all you have to go by....

I just made a thread about this. Why are you okay with a Banshee impaling someone then they revive after the wave is done?

That has nothing to do with lore.  Being revived after dying is a common game mechanic that is totally independent of the story.

Having volus in MP has nothing to do with lore. Adding new things to unlock is a common MP mechanic that is totally independent of the story.

See what I did there?

Your argument is that including a character that was introduced and developed in the game's lore has nothing to do with the game's lore. :pinched:

I said introducing it in mp has nothing to do with the games lore.

Your ignorance is showing. They didn't go "so far" to include MP in campaign, the squads you promote are just numbers in EMS. Bioware allowed them to be part of MP. Bioware, the people who make the lore. Get over yourself.

If anyone were to remember one of the biggest points the developers made consistently about adding MP to the mass effect universe is that anything in MP was to supplement and follow SP lore. It would not alter, affect, or negatively change SP lore. So everyone talking about MP not needing to follow lore can eat their cupcakes.

But my faith in ME3 MP is restored after learning that volus are being auto-kicked. Makes me happy.

I agree on everything except the last part. Alot of people just haven't experienced the usefulness of a Volus teammate yet.

A lot of new additions to the "dumb bastard" list. Volus are ace. Contradict no lore, use technology in a way that's very much in keeping with their character, and rock the battlefield in a completely new way.

As if we needed any more evidence that BSN is where intelligence goes to die.

explain it all you like, a fat puggy alien that should die the instaint his suit gets puctured does not belong in the mp, that and volus are fraking annoying as hell.

[/quote]

Who cares?  I would guess they have good suits. By lore, Quarians are immune-deficient aliens who would likely die from infection whenever their suit got punctured.  So maybe they shouldn't be on front lines either.  Heck, humans are fragile bags of water that often die from a single puncturing.

I'm not against volus, in fact one joined a lobby I was in, someone immediately voted to kick the level 10 volus adept, out of a gold collector lobby. I let both of the other two know that "Whichever one of you decided to VK the volus, you're a d@#$, try doing collectors as a duo on gold now" and left.

I don't tolerate people trolling when EVERY BODY contributes, you want to have a high horse about volus in MP saying it breaks lore?

Collectors break lore, that's right they break it, ME2 was the end of the collectors.
Batarians break lore, Vorcha break lore. Multiplayer is not about "Lore", you can take your lore and shove it, go back to SP and leave the fun of MP to those of us who enjoy it for what it is, non lore based combat.

QQ.

To have a honey badger as your avatar you certainly care quite a bit whether you play with Volus teammates.

Knock it off. It's douchey.

"They don't fit in with the lore"

I got a surprise for you jackass. MP is NOT about lore. Nope. Nadda. If you want lore go play SP. MP is about randomly killing things for giggles.

Or better yet, we should autokick other races because they do not fit in with the lore.

We should definitely autokick Asari. They do not fit in with the lore. Cmon. They should be off dancing on a pole somewhere, not fighting. They are hooters, no soldiers.

Or we should autokick Krogan. They do not fit in with the lore. I didn't cure the genophage. They should die out.

Or we should autokick humans. They do not fit in the lore. They should be fighting with Cerberus.

Or we should autokick Drell. They would all die because of their crappy lungs before they could die of their crappy shields.

Or we should autokick Vorcha.  They do not fit in with the lore. They leave.

Or we should autokick Salarians. They only do sneaky covert missions with other salarians.

Or we should autokick Turians. They don't wanna fight with anything that's not Turian.

Get your heads out of your asses. Kicking a character in MP on the basis of lore is absolutely retarded. I will headbutt you in the nuts if you kick Volus because of lore. You sirs are idiots. I will headbutt you in the nuts then take the creds off your moaning body. Your kind is vomitworthy.

You can play in my games, I'm not against a support class giving me shields and watching my back.

This is stupid. "Wahhhhh they're breaking lore I'm gonna pitch a fit and kick them" Get over YOURSELF. Who cares? Stop focusing on lore so freakin much. Better yet, just stop whining about it. It's already been established the Volus is a support character, and quite an asset to any team. Your (the lore mongers) ignorance and childish obsession with lore perfection is ridiculous. Turians don't have jet packs, but I'm sure people are auto-kicking the Havoc too right? Exactly.
