And I am not so sure you understand what even you are saying. If they added Volus soldiers as canon in the SP storyline in any of the three games then I would have absolutely no issue with them being in MP. But that is because it has been established that they do have soldiers capable of performing spec ops missions such as the ones in MP.
As they did not do such a thing (thank goodness since doing it in ME3 would have really messed with some things and turned it into a WTF) it is a violation of their species core history.
Wait, so you are okay with them messing up the lore by suddenly adding them in SP, but if they leave the lore alone and simply add them as a fun diversion in MP (where it has no bearing on lore whatsoever) you fly into a vote kicking rage? Doesn't that seem a little backwards to you?
Read the bolded selection again....
If they added Volus soldiers as canon in the SP storyline (which would in turn modify their basic lore) they would be acceptable in MP.
But as of yet no such modification has been made. Hell I would even take a codex update which elaborates on Volus soldiers taking the fight to alien enemies. That would be more then enough to warrent their inclusion in MP.
And no its not backwards because MP is still founded upon the core ideas that the ME lore established. Violation of those core ideas is not acceptable to me and thats exactly what I see them doing.
How about this, I throw in the Drones from Halo into ME3 MP as a playable character. Its not in lore so it must be acceptable right??? Its just for fun right??? "Fun" is a perspective, not a constant. If you just willy nilly add anything you like to MP with out some sort of lore connection then the game is fundimentally broken as you could have Link fighting Zeus on Feros and Link can use the force while Zeus has a Big Daddy to help him.... See how messed up that crap is?
Yes MP isnt bound by all the same rules as SP but it still needs to follow the core ideas of the universes lore. Adding the Volus in MP violates those ideas.
Well, I guess you wont survive long in a zombie apocalyspe, since according to you IT IS COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE to get some gear and fight when your very survival is a stake. According to the lore, these "spec ops" groups we are playing as are just anyone Hackette could find to hold a gun and fight, especially later in the timeline. If a volus spent some cash, got some kinetic barriers, tech, and a gun, you really think Hackett would turn down any help in that situation, especially help that is essentially a cloaking combat medic?
Face it, they are not breaking lore in any way, even if they were slightly (they arent) it wouldn't matter since they are still based in the ME universe unlike the cross universe thing you suggested. They're abilities are just as much an asset to a team as having high damage, if you play them right (which applies to any character).
You can continue to argue if you wish, but you are empirically wrong on all counts.
