Uh, I've seen a BUNCH of people in this thread alone (we'll ignore the 8 billion threads prior that popped up over the weekend) that have specifically stated the Volus breaks lore and they want to kick them for that. It's not really an assumption on our parts when people are flat-out stating that's why they are tweaked.

I still don't know why people are saying about the suit thing, or that it is against lore to have them fight. They are explained in the lore as being rich traders who bought the best armoured suits and gadgets they could, and you can only really play a support class with them - one who cannot use cover at that. I know they wouldn't likely join a strike force at all, but I just alter my head-canon to think of them as a trader whos ship was in the system when the conflict started, after all - they are traders all over the galaxy - many of which who would perhaps travel on ships and make money supplying the other races, or be on their way to somewhere else.

I think at least the Volus engineer fits quite well to the lore - two mine powers and a shield boost..the adept and vanguard I suppose perhaps could be seen as iffy due to the biotics. They don't play powerful biotics at all though, just support stuff stasis, biotic balls that debuff enemies and increase power recharge speed the more of them you have. You could argue that they paid money to be biotically enhanced(shepard could be re-built with biotic powers by cerberus, despite never having them in ME1 - I know the Lazarus project info wastop secret and lost anyway, but thats not to say that it wouldnt be possible for someone rich enough to develop and research it), or were born with slight biotic abilities due to over exposure to eezo in the womb or something. They certainly are not a main damage dealing class.

Perhaps after playing as one yourself you might hate them less, but if we ever play together, and you really don't like to play with Volus - just ask politely and I will gladly change to a class that doesn't cause offence(even though I shouldn't really have to). If I want to play as one badly enough I can always find another pug. The way I see it, there is no point me playing with someone if it annoys them, the whole purpose of the game is to have fun, and if my fun detracts from yours either we part ways or work around it. It is always nicer to communicate first before initiating a kick, as it can be very frustrating sometimes when people don't even know why they were kicked - especially if it was a good lobby to be in.

It's not about how good they are, it's about breaking immersion (for me anyway).

The whole repetitive arena Wave system set in a fictional future with space magic and watching spawns appear out of nowhere pretty much destroyed any illusions I had about it all really happening. Not worth ruining someone else's fun.

In this Thread or on BSN ok I could see people getting bum hurt over lore. Playing on Xbox? I am sure the average non-forum xbox player gives near an average of zero ****s about lore.

They're not there to rack up the kills. They're there to keep your ass alive. If you really don't need any help, then boss it out solo. Otherwise, even the Volus have their uses.

Then why is it that we already have two "support" classes, Justicar Adept and Geth Engineer, 3 or 4 if you include Demolisher and Paladin, that can also do damage to enemies as well as, if not better than, the other characters? The Volus need to be either restoring all 1850 of my shields every 2 seconds or they're a wasted body better used by a character that can kill things.

If you don't think they can kill things and wanna kick them for that reason, um, ok. You just sound like an idiot, but ok. They can kill things. They can hold a gun just as easily as everybody else, they can set off their own Biotic Explosions, they can heal you, etc. Just because they're Volus and you wanna be prejudice (which is what you're being, I don't care what your reasoning is, it's stupid and wrong) doesn't mean the class is bad.

Huh? It's announced in your sig that you play bronze. You're saying you're going to kick players on bronze just because they play Volus. Then you decry elitism.

A lot of people on here are dumb, and very insecure about themselves so they have to kick. And now they use lore as an excuse for their own stupidity.

I will be kicking them from gold for awhile until I feel people have learned to play them. They have no health, cant take cover and so far in silver they are dropping all the time myself included.

Yeah, but you know, when some people make up their mind, there's no changing it. They find a way to rationalize their stance to themselves even if it makes no sense to anyone else. Typically, people who have a strong tendency for this kind of behavior are quite reluctant to change in general. So no matter how many times things like that quote are thrown in some people's face, they always come up with excuses like "auxiliary means cooks and janitors" etc.

Or, you could name a few instances from other fictional lore, such as LotR, where probably many would have thought it impossible for a few hobbits to destroy Sauron and enlist in the armies of the West, but hey, it did happen. Or when Han Solo, a smuggler, had a large role in the destruction of the Empire. I don't find it so difficult to conceive there would be a handful of Volus actually capable of frontline action, especially in supportive roles.

And then there's the thing that Bioware kind of created this universe, and at the end of the day dictates where how the canon develops. So if they decide that Volus volunteers with top-notch equipment and skillset are SpecOps ready, then that's how it is. It's the reapers after all. Even if the Volus haven't been willing or capable before, things tend to change when the whole galaxy is about to get wiped out.

But, none of this will probably turn any heads that haven't been turned already.
