And for the record, yes MP isnt bound by all the same lore issues that SP is, but to fundimentally change a species from established history to being combat viable (which the Volus clearly were not) is over the line.

It REALLY isn't. But I've made my point, do what you will with it.

It's threads like these that make me glad I only play in private games with my friends anyways.

But it actually is an issue with them. They purposefully reduced war down to a few petty squabbles that fizzle out in an extremely short time on their world and it has been that way for centuries. The most they maintain is a bombing fleet of frigates.

The so called "auxilary troops" people profess about are not front line troops or spec ops troops. Odds are those auxilaries are quartermasters, supply officers and the like as they are more suited physically and mentally to those tasks rather than combat assaults and hot drops.

I would elaborate more but frankly I am getting tired of repeating myself.

And again, you're taking single player lore into a multi-player mode that's just there for fun. This litterally doesn't break lore at all because it's NOT INCLUDED IN THE LORE. It's just there for fun. No other reason.

So I don't see why it's such a problem.

Oh my netherlords! This is the most lulz I've had this entire day! Aaaah... I'd roll Volus just for the sake of rolling a damn volus. I mean, Seriously! I'm a soldier class fan! And I'd LOVE to see a volus soldier!
Why? Wrong question, my dear random person. You should ask yourself this question:

Why. the f*ck. not?

I'd honestly lulz my way from one spot to the other just by being some sort of heavily armed, demolition charge covered special operations midget!
And people saying things like useless class, Not enough DPS! Seriously... I have the destroyer unlocked and I hate it! Why? The bastard has the agility of a reanimated corpse with a broomstick running from the netherstar to the skull instead of a spine!

Eeeh heh. To each their own. But seriously, thanks for the laugh, made this rainy, cold day a bit better.

PS: One bad thing about the volus though: it can't take cover. THAT is the single most damning thing for this species. Basically forcing this already fragile class into the open to engage targets. I can understand the reasoning behind this. The volus is short enough to not really need cover but the aiming mechanic for the NPC's works in such a messed up way that You'll still get hit.
If cover would work, as... well, cover. Maybe letting the volus only blind-fire from cover, then we'd be all good.

Volus with a revie? Anyone?

The problem is, if you dont want to play with them, that is fine, but thats on you. You should be the one waiting for a game, not the other person.

I don't know if you realize this, but it takes 3 votes to kick someone, not one. It's absolutely absurd to claim that they should all find a new game without the Volus.

Unfourunately, mob mentality makes that not mean much. If one person places a vote kick on someone 99% of the time, the other people pile on without even knowing why. The simple act of placing a single vote virtually garuntees a kick, unless someone actually takes a second to realize, "Wait a minute, that person isn't even doing anything wrong."

Its not my responcibility to moniter any choices made by other players in reguards to kicking. Each player has the capacity to view and decide if they want to kick or not. You can not put the blame on the person who initiated the kick vote as they are expressing their personal opinions.

If the others kicked as well then the matter is settled. Does it make it right 100% of the time, nope. It does however give the opportunity for players to make the choice themselves.

So please dont place the blaim on one person when it is a group thing.

Sorry, I don't blame the person starting it, I just meant to say, that given the way the voting goes down, it also cannot be taken as a sign of support. Seeing as I can place a vote kick on anyone and they will most likely get voted out.

I have been in hundreds of matchs where a person only had one kick vote on them and we went on to play through all the waves. There are plenty of people out there who actually look at what is going on and decide if they want to kick or not.

And yes there will be players who dont bother looking and just kick anyways, but every game with lobbies (that have the option to kick) will have players like that. There just isnt much you can do for it. And yes I do feel sorry for those it happens to, but like I said there isnt much that can be done about it.

Because what is BARELY affects in single player is just a gameplay issue.

Bwahahaha, I just laugh on people who kick a Volus team mate because it's a Volus. It's pure stupidity. I just played a few with Volus but no one wanted to kick me and they res. me when I fall.
If I will be kicked because I'm a Volus so be it. I find an other lobby easily.

For the Vol-haters: There need to be 3 person to kick a Volus, but only ONE Volus enough to make you miserably mad. So I think you are the ones who suck with this attitude.

Volus are in the game. Deal with it... or not... I don't care. I enjoy them.... hohohoho

Blatent refusal to see establish history with a species is not my problem. It is yours. For that I can only offer one thing, pay attention to it. If you choose not to (which you are free to do) then its all gravy for you.

But to me, the fundimental change of a previously established species is a giant FU to anything that came before hand.

Just like alot of people felt about the ending to ME3. How they felt it was BS and altered so many things established in prior games. I get where that comes from (though I dont see where all their connections come from) and even respect it. But in each of those cases there was a reason with in spitting distance of plausable (as far as I can determain, and with the EC content even more so). With the Volus there is so such plausability. Just a total rewrite of the species for the sake of putting them in MP.

All they're doing is adding a fun little addition to a part of the game that isn't included in main universe at all. There's absolutely no harm in that.

Like I said. If they added volus soldiers in a canninical part of the story, I would be agreeing with you 100%. But that simply isn't the case.

Its as serious as the die hard fans of the Eclipse series (or whatever that crappy teen vampire movie was) or LoTR or any other series out there. People are passionate about whatever they enjoy. I happen to enjoy fictional universe and the histories they establish. Is that so wrong?

Why should I be serious about basketball? I hate the sport to be honest but some people are nuts over it. Same kind of thing.

And when you screw with the founding principles of something you alter the entire scheme of whatever it is you messed with.

Say in basketball that you were allowed to pass the ball to the crowd and they could pass it back to anybody on the court. Wouldnt that change how the game is? Wouldnt that drive established players nuts as you just altered the fundimental rules of the game?

Do you see where I am going with this?

It's funny... all of the complaining from anti-volus people the past few days has illicited approx. 800,000 "lol at the butthurt" and "tears of whiners are delicious" posts. Now it's the pro-volus crowd doing the QQing. I don't know whether that's funnier, or the fact that the anti-volus crowd isn't spouting that stupid "butthurt" thing back.

Isn't kicking volus a pre-emptive sort of butthurt? Like they had to be butthurt to kick and cry to begin with. Just saying.

I just made a thread about this. Why are you okay with a Banshee impaling someone then they revive after the wave is done?

That has nothing to do with lore.  Being revived after dying is a common game mechanic that is totally independent of the story.

Having volus in MP has nothing to do with lore. Adding new things to unlock is a common MP mechanic that is totally independent of the story.

See what I did there?

I understand fandom. I participate in a lot of it. ME3's endings dissapointed me, the Abrams Star Trek hurt a lot as a die-hard Star Trek fan. However, ruining someone else's ability to have fun and participate because of your own fandom is selfish, mean, and beyond the pail.

I think it fits better with the lore than we realised it would, they are rich mercenary traders, who can afford the very best gadgets and armour (especially as they make some of them) - they are purposely built for having the worst carry weight limit of any class, limiting you to pistols or SMG's for full cooldowns - the devs have said that this is to encourage them to be played as the support classes that they are. Their racial abilities genarate shields, and they lack a melee and instead have a short cloak and a barrier shield. Also, they cannot use or vault cover.

They fit into lore, because they really are not warriors, and cannot really be played as one - the powers I have on both my volus classes focus heavily on de-buffing the enemies rather than damage dealing, and every Volus I have seen play stayed at the bottom of the scoreboard yet helped a huge amount with revives and objectives.

They do run faster than I had expected though, but I don't mind this - they don't look odd. Even for people who don't like them, I still think this is the best way they could have added them.

In bold you just proved my point. They are not soldiers. They cant fight (or in most cases are too inept to fight). Their suits make them a liability on any world/space station/spaceship other than their own.

They are violating these core concepts of the Volus species. Altering them, corrupting them if you will, to make them fit into MP.

And I am not so sure you understand what even you are saying. If they added Volus soldiers as canon in the SP storyline in any of the three games then I would have absolutely no issue with them being in MP. But that is because it has been established that they do have soldiers capable of performing spec ops missions such as the ones in MP.

As they did not do such a thing (thank goodness since doing it in ME3 would have really messed with some things and turned it into a WTF) it is a violation of their species core history.
