Volus adept is amazing. It isn't supposed to be a class that tops the boards, you are there as a support class, to keep your team alive, and this class does it extremely well. I tried it out and I have to say I am very happy with how they built it. I didn't care if they added volus or not, but I had my doubts about them working, and I was very wrong.

Furthermore, OP, it would be best to watch how you approach the forums from now on. The forumites here are very defensive of their personal opinions (be they right or wrong) and will let you know what is on their minds. Try wording your posts better.

I'm inclined to say that, until I see further evidence of it's prowess, the Volus is not a good character for higher difficulties (especially against the Collectors). I've played in a game with a Volus Adept not too long ago and I wasn't too impressed. While the Volus is support, the player just wasn't supporting us and kept dying as a result. My initial opinion of the Volus is that I don't think too highly of it. Of course, my opinion is subject to change if I see more of it.
On Gold, I used my Volus Adept. By itself it is very weak, but if you use the Biotic Orbs to debuff things, it makes life a whole lot easier, as the debuff gets as high as 45%, which makes anything turn to mush from even weak weapons.

I'm pretty sure a biotic god CANT be a flop, so...you're doing it wrong.
Maybe if the other characters stopped nudging you in the back and making you fall over...
I don't know about that. From what I remember from ME2, the original "biotic god" flopped rather easily, and had some trouble getting back up. I'm not going to challenge anyone on either side of this little debate. I've seen some handy things the Volus could do. Those recon mines scan for a fair distance. Having said that, my personal opinion is that all things considered I'm not a huge fan of a dedicated support character. It has nothing to do with the score. It's simply that I've found that the best support another player can give tends to be killing as many of the enemy as possible so they can't swarm you.

That's reasonable (maybe a little too overpowered). However, if the player doesn't know what they're doing, it can be a hassle to keep the game going.WestLakeDragon wrote...

This. Me and my friend have both played today with Volus adepts and yeah, you're definitely doing something wrong. The orbs alone do awesome damage, one orb takes down a basic trooper and one orb + stasis bubble do a heck a lot more. In a team of four, we two alone did all the object recovery missions + four point hacking missions, since one volus can keep the other's shields up. Also with two volus throwing orbs at Atlas can take it down pretty easily.
Haven't tested on Gold, yet, though.

I agree with most of the people here although i do have to say i think he should've had slightly higher shields even though he is for support.

Please, he's a waste of space. Biotic Dets that dont even kill a basic trooper are a fail.
Come back once you've actually played as one.
Short enough to hide behind cover, sure... Just tall enough to get shot in the head too while doing it...
Er, you kind of ARE doing it wrong...
THe volus adept appears to be a total support character....Bioware as even flat out said that it is NOT supposed to be a frontline fighter...
Volous can't and I refuse to acompany them to their inevitable deaths.
you are aware that somebody solo'd platinum with a volus right?
The volus don't have teh high damage output that other characters do but you shoulnd't kick them. you know why?
1) they can shield boost the team
2) unlimited cloack to revive
3) can set off 4 BEs with 1 coold down cycle in 4 different spots
throw him on a team with a few other biotics and he'll be seeting off every detonation. Also the character det isn't diff form anyone else's.

I kinda of agree but you went way over the top which is why people will be against you in this thread.
Lets put it this way, the Engineer version is twice the character, he really is better. Biotic Orbs need a pretty big buff, the adept is an ok character, him getting a biotic orb buff and healing people receiving points would fix him imo

But yeah, the Volus (both of them) are SUPPORT classes, meaning they are supposed to recharge the shields of the allies whenever possible and spam the attacks from behind. If you are on the front attacking then you are using the volus wrong
Note: Don't use ANY Volus on FB white, your lifespan on gold matches is very short and the guys who do public matches tend to be unreliable players, only on platinum you can kinda expect some ACTUAL good teamplay
