I like the thought of having the various types of trees as party members. Lord Of The Rings like trees that go into battle with you are a party member who has a tree spell that brings a tree to life.

Reason?
I can see no as a party member but as an ally? Why not?

Given the problem animating it, it would have to be a sapling. Or a bonsai tree. So don't be a sap and start pining for it. Just leaf the matter alone.

They would be too large to be practical. You'd have to settle for a fighting bush instead.

Why would a tree ever leave its forest? Or go to the Deep roads or the beach? Or a city even? It doesn't feel like it would fit anywhere else... It would stand out a lot too and NPCs should be running away from it, screaming.

We have had huge Ogres and huge dragons on the screen. Numerous amounts at one time so why would the trees be any more complicated? If you played the Elves Forest you would see that you were attacked by more than one tree,

Bring back the Poet Tree!

edit:  You can't go wrong with a whole game of rhyming couplets.

I wouldn't mind talking to some again; I really liked the Poet Tree in DAO. Things like him gave the DA verse a bit more magic, than just being the usual "Wizards, elves, dwarves racismlol" stuff. I was caught off guard by him. I was pleasantly surprised.

I think it would be interesting and not take up as much resources as a couple of you think,

Yeah trees as party members no thanks, they are sooo incredibly rude each time I talk to them they snob me. Allies no they just stand around and photosynthesise imagine a tree in combat.
PC: Tree help me, I'm being attacked!Tree: :mellow:PC: Please tree, they're trying to steal my kidneys!Tree: :mellow:PC: Now they're kicking my kidney around! Help me stop them!Tree: :mellow:PC: I hate you tree!Tree:

Now a sylvan on the otherhand, t'would have to be a small one as I think Bioware had a size issue with Shale in DA:O. But what's it going to do conversation wise; just bark at everyone?

Er, trees aside, I'd rather have a party I can take with me to have a drink in the nearest tavern.

I mean, I can just imagine walking into the tap room with the super exotic party members some people keep suggesting here.

You walk in.
The barkeeper stares at you and stops cleaning the mugs.
The piano player stops playing.
The patrons stop talking and stare at you also.

And then you just cheerfully tell them: "What's up? Never seen a walking tree, a desire demon, a darkspawn and a were-nug before?"

they would stare at you the same way they would if you had a Golem(Shale) and a Qunari(Saarebas) as a party member.

Sure, why not?
If I can believe a statue can fallow me around, I can believe a tree would do the same.

I don't really care for the idea of trees as party members, but I'd like to see sylvans return as opponents.
