You guys have a really great opportunity to revitalize the single-player experience by giving people access to all the multiplayer powers that have been created over the last half year or so.  You can create new story content, sure, but few things have as wide-reaching an impact on the player experience than the powers at his disposal.

At some point down the line, it would make sense to offer DLC that lets players create customized classes.  Adapting and balancing the powers for use in SP won't be the easiest task, sure, but there's a gold mine of replayability here that shouldn't be overlooked.  Whether it's some kind of point-buy system or just a free-for-all power selection, the end result would be another reason for players to go through the ME3 campaign with renewed interest.

Signed. This is sort of what I was talking about in the thread regarding class specialization. It's a fantastic idea worth implementing.

As an example, here's an alternate Sentinel build that I've been trying on the PC:

Slam (Throw Replacement)
Incinerate (Warp Replacement)
Defensive Drone (Lift Grenade Replacement)
Barrier (Tech Armor Replacement)
Overload
Pull (Cryo Blast Replacement)

Seems to be a nice twist so far. This runs with the idea that a Sentinel is pure power-based class with an emphasis on survivability. Barrier, of course, gives bonuses to your biotic and tech powers, while Defensive Drone gives your busy, behind-cover self some extra protection from sneaky enemies.

Pull is a far superior crowd control ability in comparison to Cryo Blast, but this inclusion is offset by the fact that the player has neither Warp nor Throw. Slam is there for damage to unprotected foes and for Biotic combos. Incinerate now fills the role of direct-damage ability, and recent changes to combo gameplay mean that you can now pair it with Overload to easily set up Fire Explosions.

So, Overload + Incinerate for Tech Bursts, or Incinerate + Overload for Fire Explosions. After softening up your enemies defenses with either, disable them with Pull and Slam them for the nice biotic finish.

Makes for some fun, ability-happy gameplay.

The big problem is this is that it will make the traditional classes pointless.

There are multiple ways to look at the issue. One view is that the purpose of the original six classes was to provide distinct and unique playstyles. To that end, it certainly did its job. However, so long after the release of the game, the six classes no longer speak to the wide range and abilities and combinations that are possible (particularly when taking MP powers into account). At the time of the game's release, having customizable characters might not have been as good an idea. But now, it just helps bolster interest.

Besides, there's no reason why Bioware can't present the traditional classes as the core experience, with customization as just a bonus option for curious/repeat players.

Ultimately, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea. I would probably toy around with it a little. Sounds like fun but not a necessity, IMO.

As a stand alone dlc, not worth money. If they combined it with a new difficulty setting I would gladly pay $10 for it.

I know you specified that you're doing this on PC, though I'm wondering if something like this would be possible through the 360's save editor. It seems like a really interesting build, and I'd love to try to something like it. Though I find your choice of Defense Drone rather... interesting. I don't know if the bonus power has different stats for Shepard than it does for Tali, but for Tali, at low-level, it only lasts for about five seconds. I don't see why anyone would want to use it. Could you shed some light on that?

I don't think so. If something like earning a class specialization which allows new powers, and maybe increases the level cap to 65 or 70, it wouldn't make the standard class builds useless at all. Even swapping out two or three original powers for the new replacements wouldn't do all that much to change the fundamental playstyle of each class. I think you'd be surprised at how much people would still use the standard six classes, especially if you had to earn the specialized class at some point midway through the game. I think that would definitely be the best way to handle implementing new powers into single player.

Ever wonder what it would be like... if you had all of the classes special abilities? Bring out a drone, throw out a singularity. Cloak on, tech armor on, activate adrenaline rush and biotic charge up to them. Shoot'em in the face with a shotgun.

this is assuming that you could use all of them at once. xD not true, but it would still be fun. you'd be an ultra-fast invisible dude with huge shields teleporting all over the place with a little drone following you around, trapping people in weird biotic bubbles. It would be awesome....

the possibilites are endless. So yeah, I'd buy this DLC.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... While I'm not against a powers DLC, the current system for SP bonus powers would need to be overhauled. You just wouldn't get any real worth out of it otherwise, one bonus power at a time just is'nt enough.

This idea would be something in the right direction - I've never been entirely satisfied with the restrictive class options, so I'd be definitely up for this.

Apart from the core class ability like tech armor, the rest should just be different slot like tech slot, biotic slot, ammo slot, let us fill that slot with all those abilities available.

Sentinel = tech armor + 1 grenade + 2 biotic + 2 tech
Infiltrator = cloak +1 grenade +2 tech + 2 ammo
Vanguard = charge +1 grenade + 2 biotic + 2 ammo
Engineer = 6 tech or 5 tech + 1 grenade
Soldier = 2 combat + 4 grenade/ammo
Adept = singularity + 1 grenade + 4 biotic

plus 1 bonus slot that allow you to choose whatever you want except things like tech armor, cloak. charge which define a class

I love this idea.

I came up with something similiar.
But I also included racial variations,

Also have grenades as items and ammo modifiers as items rather than powers.

Core classes
Adept:  Singularity, Biotic Sphere   + 6 biotic powers
Vanguard:  Biotic Charge, Nova + 3 biotic powers and 3 combat powers
Engineer: Combat Drone, Combat Turret (more like the one the Cerberus engineer uses) + 6 tech powers.
Infiltrator: Tactical Cloak, Shadow Strike + 3 tech powers and 3 combat powers.
Soldier: Adrenaline Rush, Concussive Shot + 6 combat powers
Sentinel: Tech Armour, Supply Pylon + 3 biotic powers and 3 tech powers

Multi classes
Biotic Infiltrator: Tactical Cloak, Biotic Sphere + 2 biotic powers, 2 tech powers and 2 combat powers.
Tech Vanguard: Biotic Charge, Nova + 2 biotic powers, 2 tech powers and 2 combat powers
Commando Sentinel: Adrenaline Rush, Supply Pylon + 2 biotic powers, 2 tech powers and 2 combat powers

Asari, Geth, Mechs and Vorcha get race specific "kits".

I feel like the existing classes already allow so many different styles anyway. I watch videos of Adepts and they look nothing like how I play Adept, for instance.

I'd buy it. It'd save me hours of tedious Gibbed's work to create a class that relies on multiple bonus powers without making the game any easier or harder than it would be with a standard class.

For that matter, I'd buy a MP version, too.

A good model for this is to package all the new powers together, and when you buy it, you get one extra bonus power slot, and all the powers can be chosen as bonus powers.

Right now, at level 60, you have something like 13 points that you literally can't spend because you will have already maxed your existing powers + bonus power out.

I would totally buy this, if only because I could rock Tech Armor and Hawk Missile Launcher together. :wub:

Multiplayer powers in singlplayer? I'd buy this. I prefer combat and tech classes, but smash would change that.

Also, ME3 would benefit from a singleplayer equivalent of multiplayers platinum difficulty.
