It gives you a loadout of 3 (or 4 if specced) to toss thereafter without a CD. It can detonate BEs and can be specced for 15% damage taken per orb (stacks up to 3, so 45%). I've no idea if the Engi and Adept debuffs stack, but it would be pretty devastating.

It bears repeating that there are TWICE as many Volus as there are Salarians. How anyone can consider this lore friendly, and how Bioware can promote this idea is beyond me.

Mass Effect 4- Salarians removed from the Council for not supporting the war effort. Volus take their place. Volus join the Spectre ranks.

As far as I remember the lore, there are very, VERY few salarian biotics which are mostly used in scientific works, so no Adepts/Vanguards/Sentinels (at most - a non-biotic Sentinel like N7 Paladin). And a salarian Soldier... I can't imagine such a thing. Two most badassful salarians we know, Mordin and Kirrahe, are Engineer and Infiltrator respectively.

Speaking of the volus... I love this little funny ball of an Engineer.

Also the salarians are the race that send less help(considering they are one of the biggest powers in the know galaxy) to the Crucible even if you accept Dalatrass Liron's plan to destroy the genophage cure.
So except for the STG operatives, the salarians weren't to willing to help thanks to the dalatrass.
Also keep in mind their situation was a little less dire than the others because their homeworld wasn't taken by the reapers yet.

I only have the engineer and he's awesome. Very fun to play. Interesting abilities. But please, buff the health (250-300) and the cooldown (I like running with the Claymore... it's so badass on a Volus).

Volus are great! I realized I have a short cloak if I tap the melee key. Engineer: the Prox Radar mine is great to time in a group of collectors. Adept: I'm still getting used to how the orbs function. Both: The shield boost is a great idea. I have to double check what weapons I've been using, the cooldown seems a bit long w/ the radar mine & orbs.

Still though I have PUG team-mates shooting at me during a few matches today. I mean, really? C'mon. Enough with the Volus hate. Stop shooting your partner, namely me.

It seriously does go on forever... I was hosting as a Slayer and I spammed Phase Disruptor as fast as I could (Platinum) and it dominated. It's super super cool.

I will admit, I was sceptical. I didn't look it, but I was.
I do, however, trust BioWare almost implicitly with this IP after the Extended Cut, so I defended the volus regardless.

And I was vindicated. A magnificent job all-round.

From my past few days of playing alongside volus adepts, I can safely say they work, but why ultra rare? I think they should be rare like all the others.
other than that, good job!

I love the Volus! Here's a heads up though: Even if you max out the Volus N7 cards, that is, get all the appearance options, you will still get them. So until Bioware fixes this I advice not buying more packs once you max out one of them.

Guess the ultra rare status is meant to be the Volus are very rare to be find on the battlefield.

Battle reports confirm that the Volus have indeed joined the war efforts against the Reapers.

What do you think about having this new race available?

I was lukewarm about the idea before release, mostly because I didn't expect the implementation to be believable based on the single player.  But, I was happily surprised.  I find the Volus characters and their abilities both believable and very enjoyable to play.  You can really tell from these characters how much the MP department has grown.

Besides the fact that Salarians are real bastards in SP ( except Mordin), and they don't fight the war at all, if genophane is not cured, many seem to love them :D

On the topic, I haven't unlocked a Volus yet, but they offer a different way to play, so I like the addition.

They're great. It's fun seeing this little dinky Volus running around anyway, but on both games I've seen one on my team they've been very handy.

One of them was running around with a Collector SMG blowing loads up with his mines, fun stuff.

I lol'ed loudly when I tried to put my Volus Adept into cover... then realising he could barely look OVER the cover. Genius!

Just to add to this,.... on bronze, i have been able to take down a brute with three orb blasts and few AR shots as well as to take down a ravenger the same way.  I was not expecting this to say the least and this little beast rocks! I love them, ... not as much as my Turians and Asaris though.

Good and fun support characters aside from being UR. Every time I get volus from pack I think to myself "that could have been my missing typhoon"

They fit perfectly into the role of a support class, something this game was sorely lacking.

Seeing them in action made me realise they didn't look that out of place after all, rather they fit in very well :)

Thanks for adding them. I like their design and think they are reasonably introduced.
The totally different perspective blew me away. (And got me downed in Wave 1 on the new White map).

Squishier than a drell, needs more health. Other than that I enjoyed playing with both of the volus. Couldn't stop laughing at his failure to snipe over cover, vault or hide from anything - it forces you to play a little differently and that's not a bad thing. More support powers can't hurt either, their shield boost and melee cloak and bubble (and ability to consistently pick up squadmades because the game can't suck you to cover) make them great medics. They are faster than I expected them to be, but necessarily so. Recon mine is already up there with my favourite powers.

I'm happy with the addition of the Volus. I'm really enjoying the Volus Engineer, and its Recon Mine :D

Haven't unlocked the Volus Adept yet, so no idea what they're like.

It's awesome to see Volus in game, but it's potentially awful to unlock them. I'd rather pay for new DLC and have all of the characters immediately available than have to grind for money that may or may not get me the character I want. As someone who mostly plays with PUGs, it is ridiculously frustrating to find a decent team that I can grind with and it takes way too much time to unlock the characters, not to mention weapons and other upgrades.
