You know what, initially I thought "forget the lore, this should be fun for the sake of it".

But then it struck me - this does fit in with the lore, funnily enough.
Sure in normal circumstances the volus would rely on the turians fo rmilitary strength. But these are far from normal circumstances, and no matter what species, one could find oneself in an unpleasant situation on the front line.

That they only have 150 health makes sense. the shield boosting and defensive abilities make sense. Even the biotic orbs can make sense. Stasis is the only thing that I find a bit odd, but not altogether impossible. The engineer makes sense completely.

You made them unique, fun and did not really butcher the in-game lore and universe.

What is there not to love? Great job, plainly put.

I think they took the place of something that could have been far, far better.

Why in the world introduce a joke race like the Volus when instead you could have spread their abilities (Shield Boost, Biotic Orbs, and Recon Mines) to existing races?

As it stands, we now have to wait for the Drell Assassin to come out to get Recon Mines on anything but a little bowling ball with asthma.

And for that matter:
Why in the world are there no Salarians? There's yet another Krogan, yet another Quarian, yet more Asari (which I do like the concept behind the Huntress. A Biotic Infiltrator will be very interesting to see how she plays, considering the new playstyle that the Ghost brings to the table with his Tactical Cloak Assault Rifle damage boost), three Turians, another Geth, two more Batarians, a Drell, another Vorcha...and four bloody Volus.

But no Salarians at all?

If you're going to, as one of the developers stated, "create a support class" the Salarians were the race to have gone for. Yes, you could not have done a Vanguard or Adept (at least if following the lore...but that clearly doesn't matter anymore since bowling balls are taking the field, rather than sticking to what they do best and operating the bombing fleet) but so what? We have enough "support" characters in those ranks as it stands with the three currently existing Asari characters.

And furthermore...it's still frustrating as all get out that the Human N7s are reused assets from SP, and restricted to single gender characters.

Yet, we get Volus.

I would love to hear the reasoning behind that decision.

At first I was pissed off with lore butchering, but I think the MP team did a good job justifying them. They're clearly not front line fighters, but since they're all space banker billionaires, they can afford state of the art technology and serve as support troops.

The engineer makes more sense than the adept though. The volus adept feels abit too much meme pandering in a "lol chuck norris" style, esp with the "godly biotic abilities" in the description.

This. Although I think it's subtle enough not to distract from the immersion.

I really like them. I was unsure about them at first but the idea grew on me. They are both fun to play. Great job BW.

I wasn't completely against them, but I felt it wasn't right to put them in such fights (four operatives against hordes of enemies). I saw them in a support role, which they totally do, so I'm finally absolutely fine with it. Plus, they're kinda fun. I'm more sceptical when it comes to a volus VANGUARD. I mean, he charges, then what ? o_O

Volus is now one of my top recruits. No worries about banshee DOT or anybody else's for that matter. Paid da cost to be that boss for instant cloak access...

Out of breath now so...

Implemented in a way that makes sense (not front-line fighter, but fragile advanced tech support) and one of the things that have been called for since the start.

I love the Engineer, it's fantastic to play as.

I like them they seem to be true support characters which is very nice, but I would like them to be rares not URs as I've put a lot of time in this game and I feel like ill never max my UR guns

They're a very interesting change of pace from everything we've gotten so far. Also tactical cloak / bubble shield for melee is genius.

Definitely loving the volus engineer, the adept second. Looking forward to the two others :)

Hmm, there would have to be a very good reason for a volus to go charging around as a vanguard.

Can anyone from BW answer this, or is this one just purely for a laugh?

Umm... The Volus engineer is supposed to be a support class right?
Umm thing is. I think he forgot to check that memo.
Doods an engine of destruction really.
Especially when you go all carry weight and bring the mother of all bazookas with you.
Love em really!

Now this is funny as that is my Volus Adept's name, lol:O

He's sooooo cuuuuuuuute! UR status is dumb though. I do NOT look forward to opening an UR card just to get XP and more colors for my Volus. Worst. Idea. EVER. Knowing my luck, I won't even get the Volus Engineer till he's been nerfed.

I am positive that every random group I played as Volus Engi with hated me.
Until they figured out what that weird shock burst thing I did every 3 seconds next to them did.
Then they loved me.
I overly enjoyed hanging out with the biggest Krogan I could find, interrupting SMG shots to spam Shield Boost constantly with him.
To be honest, though, I was expecting to be able to use cover, and was hoping for a goofy pulling-self-up-by-one-arm style animation for shooting over it.

I think they're pretty fun. Still trying to decide exactly how I want to play them, but I never thought they were a bad idea in the first place.

Uhh... instant shield boost pretty much whenever you need it. Unless you're making a joke about their height, which would be funny.

I thought that it was just a curveball that someone leaked to throw everyone off when I first heard that Volus would be added, and I won't lie, when the first PSP I opened contained a Volus Adept, I was less than thrilled.

However, after playing a bit and learning the capabilities of the Volus Adept (who I of course named Pitne For), I think that it's an excellent change of pace to have a character with unique mechanics and a totally new viewpoint (because short) on how to play the game.

True story incoming... I joined a gold PUG with my Volus Adept, and instantly received two votes to kick. I unmuted my mic and asked why they wanted to kick me, and one guy says "BECAUSE THE VOLUS SUCK". I offered to change classes, but the last guy just readied up and the match started. I finished the game in second on the scoreboard, and I spent most of the game acting like a rotund shadow to the MQE and the Paladin, boosting their shields and occasionally stasis/sphereing things. Nobody said anything about the Volus not being so sucky, but I didn't get any more votes to kick from that group.

Overall, good times. New and interesting variation on gameplay.
