Ewoks.
George Lucas's influence on Bioware is larger than I had thought. JJ Binks is next?

Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to unlock 4 of the N7 earth classes, so I feel like it'll be a while before the store hands me one of what I consider to be the best MP move Bioware has made since releasing Platinum difficulty.

Ewoks: Littly fuzzy bear aliens from a random forest planet that defended themselves with stone age technology. Note that they did all the fighting while the heros of the movies went and to destroy some shield array.
Volus: Short round aliens from a planet with an unimaginable atmospheric density that have super advanced weapons, tech, and some even have a strong understanding of Biotics. Note that they usually have other fight for them and appear in MP as support roles.
I see the similarities already.

Firstly because I was expecting a lot more UR weapons from yesterday's spending spree.
Secondly because rarity should reflect status and the Volus aren't exactly STG/N7/SPECTER grade.

Short roly-poly mildly entertaining comic relief that strikes a dischordant note from the rest of the milieu, at least in terms of the guns & fighting aspect. And you spent way too much time thinking about the differences.

Didn't think all that long on it, just didn't see your post the moment you made it.
Ewoks are indeed comic relief, but I would disagree in that Volus are as well. They are an advanced, intelligent, and strong race. Yes, there are some jokes around them, but that's like calling Krogans a joke race because of the cerimonial Krogan headbutt.
Volus has always been one of my favorite races and I'm rather happy to see them have a place in MP to show how badass they can be.

I just meant you listed a whole bunch of reasons why they're different; all I did was post my gut response. But hey, given that these are just our opinions, we can both be right!

I can't wait untill I try out the Vanguard. I even think about skipping Shield Boost with him.

I can't lie.. the Adept does look adorable rolling around with the biotic spheres like a cat with a ball of yarn.

Seriously though, I enjoy playing as a support member, so the Volus gives me optimal skill set both offensively and defensively. A few folks left the lobby immediately upon seeing my sexy self. But those that played with me stayed with me. LTR > one time hang-n-bang
