Downloading from Origin instead of installing from disc

I've decided to reinstall the game in order to try out the new DLC but rather than installing from the discs, Origin has decided that it wants me to download the game from the internet instead.

Why on Earth does it want me to do this? I have all the data needed to install the game on the discs and it worked without issue the first time I installed the game.

The only work around I've found requires to me copy files off the disc, extract them, start Origin and it'll think that I've downloaded it and continue from there.

Damn annoying is something that is an understatement in this regard.

Great after going through all that to install the game I have another problem.

Downloaded the new DLC but can't play it because I don't have the patch. Problem is if I try to patch the game through Origin it starts to download the entire game again.

God, Origin is a piece of crap.

This is a very common issue. Keep in mind, though, that the game appears to be downloading even if you're installing it from the disc. If the so-called download rate is 7mb/s or higher, it's actually installing from the disc.

You could also try and disconnect from the internet while installing the game, if Origin allows it.

I got the game to update in the end after wasting another half hour while Origin did a repair install.

After all it's taken to get the game installed and running again, I've actually lost the desire to play it.

Origin has done nothing but complicate things. I shouldn't need to run these clients in order to play my games.

Many people share that sentiment. The installation issues have been there since Battlefield 3. They never bothered to fix it, just provide workarounds.
