Growing more hair is a common sign of masculinity. I'm sure you're all aware of that. Whether or not you find it attractive is a completely different story.

As a straight male, I really don't find it attractive at all. However, I also don't care. Some people would like more customization. Considering the fact that most men don't shave their body, having a bit of hair would be pretty common for a male character.

Still, I dread the day when my chest looks like THAT. It's annoying enough to have to shave my face everyday to look presentable.

I don't get it. Why cover great muscle definition with hair?

(*Chuckles*) While this thread has taken a turn for the strange, it does bring up an issue that has always bothered me, from a immersive visual perspective. Why do our "Heroes" always have to look like they walked off the front page of an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog? Where is it written that Heroes can only be tall Eric the Viking looking dudes? Heroes can't be average looking guys who aren't muscled? That can't truly be the "every-man" that so many Heroic narrative try to paint them as?

One aspect of playing a Table Top RPG or more character design in-depth RPGs is that I love creating Heroes and Characters that resemble, well, me. I'm not some grossly over-weight person, and I still have a full head of hair, but I'm not muscled or tanned. I'm also a bit doughy to be fair. However I can run, jump, and fight (somewhat) and I'm at best average in the facial looks department. Nothing special for sure but I don't send women and children running in terror.

My point is I'm not an atypical "Heroic" looking guy and it would be nice if, in Dragon Age and not just titles like Skyrim and so forth, I could create a Hero who *is* average looking from head to toe, not just in the face but with chiseled Adonis like abs. I want my Inquisitor Mage to look like he spends more time in a Library delving into Arcane knowledge then hitting the gym. Is that wrong?

I'll admit it, Tom Sellick has some very impressive chest hair going on in that picture, OP. Very very impressive.

It may happen, OP. Varric had chest hair.

For character looks. It makes him look like he's been around and has a lot of experience in grappeling and wrestling others. Or in other words, it makes him look more tough.

@Glenboy24 the picture on the first page with the chubby bald guy wearing a cross is actually a picture of one of the greatest fighters of all time. You don't have to look like Brad Pitt from Troy in order to resemble a real fighter.

So I agree with your post.

Well thinking it trough it may not be a bad option in the upcoming game if we are facing a war.

Just cause fashion magazines and GQ says you should shave your chest (for God knows what reason) doesn't mean you have to do it. Sport your chest hairs guy and be proud of it.

See, that goes both ways. Women naturally have hairy legs too for example, I wonder if you will love it if your gf embraces that and doesn't shave. If you would like that, then I respect your opinion, if not then understand that chest hair is exactly the same thing, and most girls like it shaved off.

No, it's really not the same thing. You'll hardly find any guy that thinks hairs on a womans leg is attractive, but you'll find plenty of women who likes chest hair. Hell my last GF actually straight up told me, that she couldn't stand guys that shaved their chest and thought it was super attractive on a guy that did have chest hair.

And reading this thread I can see she's not alone.

Ahh wut? I've never had to shave my legs, not all women have leg hair.

I approve of being able to give my characters chest hair. However, I'm more a fan of the Tom Selleck mustache/Fuhrer King Bradley mustache.

Then it is a matter of culture I guess. Though your point about the opinion of majority ( of where you are from ), doesn't make it different. It's still exactly the same thing.

It really really isn't. You can't possible compare chest hairs on a man, where only recently the media and magazines are trying to brainwash males to shave it off, with hairs on a womans legs.

You can't compare recent brainwashing with old brainwashing? It's our messed up culture that makes women shave leg hair too, and I love it, because I was raised that way. There are no natural reasons for women to shave their legs, and I understand that, I just can't get over myself in disliking that, which is quite sad of course.

I'm asking myself the same thing. That's a prime looking man and yet he chooses to look like some sort of wolf beast with all that unnecessary hair.

Look fella, let me level with you. No matter what culture and I've experience quite a few cultures (and no cultures that don't live in a civilisation such as wild tribes in the jungle don't count) all consider women with hairless legs attractive. And while some women may find hairless chests attractive on a guy others don't.

The difference, nearly EVERY man, regardless of culture don't like to see women with hairy legs. It's the whole part of what's feminine and what's masculine, you dig?

The point, you are missing it lol. Opinion of the majority is not the criateria for truth. Opinion is not something that has any strength behind it at all. I've told you the core issue. It's the same thing!

Oh and you lost me here. Feminine and masculine qualities have nothing to do with this at all. It's about aesthetics.
