Van Gogh was a terrible artist.
And he killed himself, the shallow ass.
DAIII should be an RPG, not a drinking sim. I'll bet you want a BAC status bar alongside health and mana too, don't you.

I lean'd, the Secret of my Life to learn:
And Lip to Lip it murmur'd - "While you live,
Drink! - for, once dead, you never shall return."
See, all they need to do is quote Omar Khayyam in their games. Fun and educational.

How about allowing the player to actually consume drinks like wine, mead, etc., instead of relegating all that stuff to a "junk" item category?
ooh, and how about a drunk debuff that effects your reasoning and motor skills? heh

............................I'm sorry, but this just made me laugh out loud because of how wrong it is. Poe, Van Gogh, Hemingway, and a slew of other famous artist, writers, etc. were all people that drank/did drugs and had a profound amount of depth and a lasting effect on the artistic world.

In DA:O Alistar and Leliana are the only ones that wine(Alistar A LOT MORE) but we help them through that and they grow up. In DA 2 we have Anders(King of the сry babies), Fenris, Sebastian, Merril(Queen of the cry babies), Carver(I take it that Bethany was the one who got all the courage). I know many did not like Aveline but she at list faced her problems instead of whining. Aveline, Isabela, Varric and Tallis(thats how an eld should be!!! hope she returns) are the only ones with any cajones.
NO MORE CRY BABIES!!!
So ... you want characters that don't have emotional depth and can deal with all their problems by themselves and the only reason they travel with the PC is because they have nothing better to do?
Every good character has a major emotional flaw that they alone cannot deal with, this is what makes them human, whether and I have never seen a DA companion NOT have a sook once at least once, and asked the PC to help them in whatever personal problem they have.
As for the fact that you cannot help them all get past their traumatic pasts, not everyone can be helped some are either unwilling or mentally unable to get past it.
