I highly doubt that bioware would try this. It would be difficult to create and most players would not use it. It would not be worth the investment

If anyone should get unarmed combat abilities it should be mages, they use magic to fight anyways.

But we usually see mages channeling magic thorough staves.  The few mages I can remember who don't use any sort of visible implement are usually really powerful (Flemeth) or employing blood magic.

I think the only bunch in-universe that use unarmed combat are the Silent Sisters.  Could be a possibility for the rogue class if we run into them in DA3.

In DA:O, you could cast spells(the ones that use mana) without anything equipped. You just can't use a normal magic bolt attack like staves do.

That's true.  Still, I'd classify staves less as a weapon and more as a magical focus.  You rarely whack someone with your staff unless you're Morrigan in the Sacred Ashes trailer, or up in close combat in DA2.  Might just be semantics though.

If anything, I'd like to see rogues getting proper assassination moves, rather than the moves of a desert mouse suffering from hyperactivity and having taken speed.

Powerful debilitating backstabs > 150 apm glancing blows

I loved the Skyrim backstab finishing moves.  It made me feel like an utter badass without being too egregiously over the top.  But I believe Allan Schumacher already addressed the expense of finishing moves elsewhere on the forums, so that's not likely.

Also, in the unlikely event that unarmed combat IS a thing, I want neck snapping to be an option :D

Dark Souls and Demon Souls also have great backstabs maybe they could add the backstab from DAO that move was very fast:ph34r:

If they could find a way to put it in where it makes sense then I would be all for it and would probably use it more than anything else.

Hmm, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Demon Souls . . . try picking games that have you playing as a party instead of as one person.

Besides, the Assassinate ability for Rogues was pretty gross--could take down anything but a main boss in one hit with my rogue. (main bosses took, um, three.) After I got that and the duelist charge one, forget the name, I actually took ALL of my other activated attacks off my bar and just alternated those two. It was surprisingly effective.

I'd like them to put in more weapon styles, sure. Do I care whether one of them is some kind of punching-through-walls fantasy monk thing? No.

I truly love unarmed/monk classes but I don't think it fits DA's universe well (although with the DA2 rogue's martial arts moves...). I would like to see a new weapon style for each class, such as polearms for warriors, but for the rogue it would have to be something different.

I'd like to see throwing weapons as a viable option (like how Tallis throws daggers) or possibly a one hand fencing class (rapiers/cutlasses). To me it would fit the universe while giving players a new option.

So like a hand-to-hand skill tree? That sounds intriguing. Some people do opt for that in other games - why not?

Being able to unequip weapons should be an option again, at least for roleplaying reasons.
And I would like to see a fistweapon fighting style for rogues.

I like the idea, but I think if something like this is implemented it will depend on how much unique animations they have to create.

I was going to say, I thought I remembered playing a monk in DAO, that might have been it.

could be fun. I preferred unarmed combat in Alpha Protocol (I know, different sort of game, but still).

I don't like unarmed fighting as an alternative to using weapons. Not without a whole bunch of magic involved, anyway. I mean, weapons are made to make you better at fighting.

Stuff which use unarmed attacks to suplement armed stuff - like "Below the Belt" in DA:O - I like

I can see rogues doing more kicks, grabs, etc
But I don't really see them giving up weapons completely.

Giving rogues a unarmed specialization would be great.

A brawling rogue? Intriguing... but why not twist the custom and let the rogue have a small ring that can poison, or a boot toe knife? Something new and unique would be refreshing if done well.

A overcoat that inflicts poison when triggered. Helpful if opponent grabs you and you need them to let go.

Or... a slip away skill that allows rogues to get away and hide from combat.

I don't know. Surprise us with something new!
