Player Shield/Healthgate removal is the worst thing to happen since the Vangaurd Glitch.

That would explain yesterday when I was soloing Silver. I die to Dragoon, medigel myself and get smashed by the Dragoon to death IMMEDIATELY.

I was like ?!?!?!?

edit: I too experienced the feeling of having died a little faster than usual thanks to the new death animation. Might be connected to this bug.

I'm not sure if the shieldgate is gone, but healthgate no longer exists that's for sure.

We need bioware to comment.

It still used to stop at shieldgate/healthgate, because it provided a brief moment of invulnerability.

I guess that's how we could test this, assuming their Talon shot actually fires multiple projectiles; kill everyone but one guardian and see if it stops at shieldgate. Do the same for a nemesis and compare results.

Not me, though.... doin **** until fairly late this evening.

Shield- and healthgate both work with Nemesis. Must have been something else.

At least I know why I've suddenly had a run of games where I got taken out really quickly and needed to use more consumables - thought I was just off my game but it may not be. Hope it's accidental rather than intentional.

So I looked at INVADERONE's platinum video and there seems to be a problem with it. He had the gates, but sometimes after using stimulant(?) pack he died near instantly. Full shields but only 1 bar of health.
But was this supposed to be the fix for AirVanguard?

Yeah, I was playing vs geth and Collectors with a paladin just now, and I would medigel to save myself from a stomp, start slamming my ED hotkey to get shields back, and die before I'd even gotten control of my character back. There's basically no point to medigel right now if there's anything worse than one single trooper-level enemy within striking distance of your bleeding corpse. That's definitely new.

You are incorrect, sir. I have medigelled under the foot of Phantoms, Primes. Pyro swarms and Banshees and rolled, cloaked, charged or Ops Packed to safety more times than I can count. Off host. It is the standard response to being downed in the middle of a crowd you know your team won't be able to kill in time to get to you. There's the risk of geth stunlock or boss sync kill cutting your escape short, but simply dying to moderate damage post-rez does not happen if you're fast and have the right tools.

Or at least it didn't.

Yeah, things have definately been cranked up in the difficulty stakes - I don't mind that in gold, but in silver and bronze it seems a little much.

People thinking its a bug, it is not it happenes every single death it is not a bug. Bugs only happen every once in a while, this happens to me every death now.


You do know how bugs work, right? Here's a tip: Bugs are just as likely to happen as any other event in a game.

any of the three regular enemies (or two phantoms) have a very high chance to stunlock you during your 2s invulnerability after you revive. Unless you roll away with that glitch pre-stand-up roll

Did some more testing, again on Bronze vs. Cerberus. Everything as it should be - Guardians are still completely stopped by Health- and Shieldgate, so the pellets don't flow over.
I did notice though that the low health/shield effects didn't always work properly, so any subsequent death felt weird even though it was legit.

Gonna record some gold runs now.

Health gate seems to be working (at least occasionally) look at the team arelex volus speed run at 4:32 the health gate is working as intended. Maybe it is this health/shield gate cool down that I have been hearing about. I hope Bioware can look into the issue and check if everything is working as it should, it is hard for the player to check this on his own.

Ok, so I'll try to explain and I hope someone will understand, they didn't remove the shield and Health gate, they nerfed i.

Before the patch, when your shield gate or health gate was trigered it gave you a small window of invulnerability so that if the attack that killed your shield was a burst from an automatic weapon all bullets from that burst were negated

Now, after the patch player shieldgate work like enemies shield gate, meanin that ONLY the one single bullet that killed your shield or brought to to 10% HP is absorbed, the rest deal full damage. that is why shotgun infiltrator one shot ennemies and why shieldgate seem like it work with a nemesis and yet at the same time a single geth trooper can murder you in no time from the other side of the map.

This has been my observation as well.  With burst fire you barely even hear the actual gate break like you would have before the patch.

Aside: I'm a little pissed that the Atlas can now avoid Health gate with its rockets.  It should at least give you a small window to try and get an Ops pack in.  At least the Banshee's warp attack doesn't do much damage to start, most of it is bleed damage.

After a gate is breached, there is a period of time before it was "re-activate."  So if you reach Shield/Healtgate, and immediately have your shields restored by a turret, pylon etc., the next powerful shot will strip your shield and do damage to your health, because the gate isn't yet back in place.  How long that period of time is I couldn't tell you.

This is also why Ops Packs were a constany failure in the early days, they restore your health & shields but didn't re-activate the gates.  The 1-second immunity of the Ops Packs should hep with that, but they still aren't perfectly consistent.

Supposedly shield gate and health gate not existing for players is a bug but it also might be an experiment from bioware on how to make the game harder ie making primes etc kill you faster without needing stunlock.

Signed. This needs to get fixed. This would hopefully help quiet the calls for faction nerfing. (except Geth who are somewhat broken right now)

now this might explain why my n7 destroyer was getting killed on silver. which was annoying.
