Player Shield/Healthgate removal is the worst thing to happen since the Vangaurd Glitch.

Guess I have another reason to play my Borderlands 2 now, since many things just feel odd - especially this. Also, I can't set off my own fire explosions with my Salarian engineer's energy drain either. A friend's been having pretty much EA server problems after the patch. 150% more, that is, so we have some new issues here.

Hope Bioware at leasts recognizes the problem. I think they will, why wouldn't they. It's not like they're EA sports, who just basically tell people to go (censored) themselves by somewhat insulting them or not replying to anything.

Hope some things are fixed by the next operation. Perhaps not, but I'll be more comfortable knowing that someone from Bioware comes in and says (In Marcellus' voice:) "I'm on the mother******".

They always have, but I don't think anyone's figured out/been told what the cooldown is.  It generally never mattered much except in rare circumstances where you decided not to get into cover after the first time you hit the gates; probably still doesn't.

The bigger issue is the gates just don't seem to function like they did before the patch.

This is some serious crap... at least admit something was changed.

Collectors, Gold, last enemy - Captain. My full health and shields GI w/ Cyclonic IV is dead from one volley. That's so fast you don't even have time to react.

This has happened countless times over the past two days.

This is not right and not fair.

Heh, well now I have something to blame it on. Tried 2 golds earlier today, and couldn't finish either, so I stuck to silver for awhile and grumbled about thinking I was a better player than this. Ah well, gonna try and do a Halo marathon before next month anyway, so I have better things to do than get frustrated and have my confidence busted by the cheap enemies here :P

Its nice to know that I'm not the only one that noticed something different. My Asari Adept kept dying to situations that were survivable prior to the patch. It was puzzling because most of these deaths weren't Collectors and Bombers or Dragoons weren't around. It really felt off and was throwing a lot of play style for a loop.


Personally, I'm hoping its a bug of some kind. This new playstyle isn't particularly fun. I'm sitting in cover way too often and a lot of the cool risky actions before the patch are now completely suicidal, even on Silver. Basically, I have to play it overly cautious, which is about as fun as obeying the speed limit in Grand Theft Auto.

Seriously, gold is impossible with randoms now. I used to be able to carry a bad team a little bit but now it's REALLY impossible.

I tried the collectors today and I cried like a little baby. I think I got magnet grabbed by preatorians like 4 times.. (I said MAGNET grabbed, too.)

These new dragoons units are ok.. but it feel sliek theres freaking 50 of them at the same time on the field, couple that with phantoms and this stupid DoT effect they gave to the atlas for no reason and you obtain stupidity.

And with ALL of that, they remove health gate? Why are they making the game like 2x harder? The old difficulty was pretty good.. oh well, I guess im going to silver now for a while until they fix something or until I find a team to run with =/

Further playing today I have noticed differences in some kits.

My results are as follows -

Human Adept - Sometimes has a shieldgate sometimes doesnt, still is somehow tankier than my Human soldier who has twice as much health and shields.

Human N7 Paladin - Same as above he seems to have a shieldgate half the time, but still not all the time.

All other classes I have played appear to not have a shieldgate or healthgate. This needs to be looked at by Bioware.

If anyone from Bioware can comment on this that would be really nice.

The Patch notes said nothing of player health being lowered or enemy damage being increased so something is wrong. I for one just want that fact acknowledged by Bioware.

Another bump. There is something broken, rendering the game nearly unplayable at all difficulties. No point in fighting of husks or abonimations of your body as you will die anyway - often the bleedout timer starts while the wrestling animation is still going on.

No point in investing points into fitness or using cyclonic modulatars, as shields will go down anyway all the time. I noticed no difference with my Asari Vanguard specced for full fitness and shieldbooster gear V or only fitness evo 3 and no shieldboosting equipment at all, both on silver and bronze difficulty.

Even with maxed Fitness specced for health and shields, I'm still getting downed much faster than before the DLC. Something's definitely gone wrong.

Something has changed, I'm convinced. It may be intentional - more consumables used = less money for packs = more incentive to spend $$ in the store. I'd hope it's not though and is just an unintentional bug or, as I've heard it called by a certain multi-national software company, as an 'undocumented feature'.

I noticed this, but attributed it to the new death animation seemingly kicking in much faster than the old one? Honestly, I thought it was related to the Vanguard glitch - making death 'faster' so you don't have time to press any buttons and confuse the game.

Whatever the cause, I do feel like I'm going down more often and more easily, especially when getting rezzed while there's still enemies around. It feels like what used to be a process of rez -> escape is now more like rez -> rez again -> rez a third time -> escape if you're lucky and your teammates have taken down whatever was killing you.

Would really like some form of acknowledgement from Bioware.

Are you sure about this? I think I only started noticing this/reading about it after Earth came out. I also have the feeling that I was able to get my shieldgate back with Charge/ED and stuff a good while ago, might be totally wrong about this though.

But maybe the enemies' damage output was just so small that after repleneshing your shields you just didn't take enough damage to lose all of it immediately in the past.

Btw, am I the only one who sometimes has problems using powers while on healthgate? It's inconsisten, but sometimes I just can't do anything except running/shooting for a while before I go down.

First shield gate was triggered, then healthgate, then INVADERONE uses his Stimulant Pack ability and replenish all his shields, THEN he was killed on spot by one Scion's blast melted all his shields and health, and without any gate triggered! :blink: Notice, after he was revived at 5:33, remainder of his shields was with him, but quickly dropped to zero. And this is not about lag, because he is hosting!
This is just insane, because seems that there is shield- and healthgates, but a) they are not always working, and B) they are not working like before the patch!
I don't know what you think but I have some very serious questions for Bioware multiplayer programmers now.


What you're seeing here is the fact that things that restore shields (Ops Survival Pack being a huge offender, Stimulant Pack, Geth Turret, Supply Pylon) do not give shield or healthgate. In the video, you see the Scion blast him to healthgate. He StimPacks (still at healthgate), and the next Scion blast takes him down because the massive damage the Scion inflicts is greater than the shields he just restored and his remaining health. Had he StimPacked before he was at healthgate, he wouldn't have gone down. This is why I've always hated Ops Survival Packs, because the best time to use them is at healthgate, but it's also the worst time, because if you're under heavy fire and use one (Prime or Atlas shooting at you is a good example), you'll still go down regardless.

I'm not quite sure what's up with the changes though. I went through that video and already found a weird occurence. May not be the best evidence, but:

You can clearly see his shields haven't even finished depleting, yet he's already taking damage to heatlh. This occurs here in the video.
Sorry if any of this stuff has already been brought up or is super obvious, it's late and I'm sleepy. :P Something is definitely up though, I'm betting it's what other people have mentioned in regards to the brief invulnerability period being removed.

I played my sentinel with full fitness and shield and I get downed on silver. I'm a regular Gold player, this has nothing to do with skill, the gates are broken! Even with my regular group people drop like flies. We are all experienced players, this is ridiculous.

Don't tell me regular cerberus troopers are able to burn through your dmg reduction and over 1k shields in less then a second. Because that's whats happening here.

give them a couple of hours. They are either just getting to work or not left their homes yet. Though this is something that should have been acknowledge yesterday though....still..

Yep, something is very wrong, I die 5x more often now 0_0

Every enemy can kill you pretty much in few shots even if you're using proper equip :/

Bioware most likely isn't commenting because we're correct in the gates being gone. They don't want the massive backlash from confirming it.
