I checked the "Last Breath" vid and damn that was awsome.

Anyhow, here's some of my ideas ( but please don't throw rocks at me XD I'm a huge fan of happy endings and I DESPERATELY want to retire my Shep on a happier note. If I want a 'sad', 'depressing', 'dark' themes, I can just check back in with reality. Plenty of them from where I came from) So here goes..

Can you make another optional ending (super high EMS Destroy) that targets the Reapers only, meaning that the geth and EDI survives (although the Catalyst would still try to deter Shep from choosing that by lying that s/he will die in taking said option)?
Or maybe add another console where Shepard can tinker on her/his own that disables reaper shield or somehow just making them significantly weaker?

But honestly I just want to see my Shep getting out of that rubble. Maybe you could either:
1) Cut the breath and memorial scene all together and make a new one showing Shep's battered body in Normandy med bay and LI sitting on Chakwa's chair, looking over Shepard (not sure if this one can make sense. One can argue that the Normandy manages rescue Shep somehow after that big kaboom), or
2) Just cut the breath scene and show Shep waking up in a hospital bed (Huerta Memorial?) with LI standing next to her/him.

Awesome work, why can't those who get paid the big bucks do something like this?

What I am interested in, is quite simply a texture mod for the Shepard memorial wall name tag. Could it be possible to do a texture swap that automatically changes the texture to something like:

CDR. *insert first name here* Shepard

???

Might this be possible at all? Thank you.

and one more, same info again basically, there are programmes out there called vocaloids, they take a wide speech/singing voice sample of any given person, making it possible to make that voice say whatever one wants. Not sure if it might be applicable here and it is far from perfect, of course...

Yeah, haha, when I first heard the result, I thought the same thing. Her voice degraded to a point where it sounds like a guy with a ridiculously high pitch. Well I guess it's fair enough since the asari are mono gendered anyway :D.

I'd also love for the last breath video to be followed by a brief still image of Shepherd's reunion with their LI (or just the crew if they don't have one.)

Ok, I am working on sequence editing at the moment anyway so I can tell you that this is theoretically possible. However, at the moment, I didn't find a way to actually add new stuff to the game (as opposed to editing what is already there). Thus, putting a check for romances in and actually adding a new video for each of the possible conditions would be hard to do at the moment. In principle, it should be easy to add stuff but for some reason, whenever I tried, I break the game. Not sure where the problem lies yet.

@d1ta: I am working on a project at the moment that might catch your interest. If there are no unexpected setbacks (which very well might come up) I should be done in a week or so.

I don't know too much about texture modding but from what I gather, this is probably not possible. The textures are just pictures. Creating an entire program that reads the name from your profile, converts it and integrates it into the texture image on the fly during gameplay? I wouldn't even know where to start. Maybe the guys over in the testure modding thread have some idea though.

The vocaloids are an interesting idea. (I just replied to your message about them). I have no experience with this and I am skeptical, given my experience with the constraints of audio software so far but I am not an audio expert so if someone has more info on that, please let us know. The potential benefits if it could work would be enormous.

Yeah, there is definitely excellent stuff out there. However, I was already very hesitant to use the videos I used so far for my proof of concept stuff. Again, I want to reiterate to all those who liked the videos: What I put in there is not made by me!!! I just took the vids, edited them very slightly and put them in the game (something that doesn't require more than 20 minutes time if you know where to look). I don"t want to just take other people's stuff and use it in this way though. It's also one reason why I just put up the videos rather than the actual mod files for this.
If people have good ideas for videos to make or to put into the game. please, send me a message or post here. I would be happy to put them in. There are way better ways to do the conventional victory for example, that would make much more sense than a simple montage (although that song is still great :)).
I just don't want to use other peoples stuff without their wish (or at least their permission) again.


Also, it's good to see the admiral on these boards again :).

I know I should be patient, but the moment I knew that modding the game is possible I kept checking this thread on daily basis XD I even start downloading and re-installing ME3 again.

Btw do you mind if I PMed you several of my ideas for the ending? I'm just too embarassed to post it on public XD

Alright then. Here goes some of my ideas XD hope it's not too cheesy.

DESTROY 1
[Sheppard dies], [EDI & Geth dies]

After the breath scene, screen turns dark, radio chatter between some generic asari search and rescue npc and the LI:

SAR: [*LI's name/title/rank], we found [her / him], [Sir / Ma'am]! [She's / he's] trapped under a debris, we're evacuating the Commander a.s.a.p.!
LI: Is the Commander..?
SAR: Goddess what a mess..
[Sir/Ma'am].. I don't think the Commander.. I.. I'm sorry [Sir/Ma'am]..
LI: ...

*[Major! Lieutenant! Dr. T'Soni! Vakarian! Admiral Zorrah! Jack! Miss Lawson! Specialist Traynor! Miss Allers!]

Next cut scene, LI is showing to be mourning over an N7 casket.
Camera zooms in on the LI's pained expression. Then pans out, taking a shot at the LI from the back, showing his/her shoulder's shaking (as if they're crying) and screen went dark.

LI: "..Sheppard."

DESTROY 2
[Sheppard lives], [EDI & Geth live]

Conditions:
1. High EMS score
2. Peace between geth & quarian
3. Miranda Lawson lives

After the breath scene, the screen turns dark, radio chatter from random generic search and rescue npc:

SAR 1: We found [her / him], Ma'am! [She's / He's] trapped under a pile of debris!
SAR 2: Goddess what a mess..
(In a grave tone) I hope we're not too late..
A. Miranda (friend) : Have respect for the Commander! A slab of concrete won't flat line our hero.
B. Miranda (LI) : Hold on Sheppard. Please.. I love you..

Next cut scene,
LI rushes through a hospital corridor and suddenly stops (worried face expression) when met with Miranda Lawson wearing a tired and tense expression. Then she smiles.

Next cut scene,
LI takes a seat next to Sheppard's hospital bed. Holds and kiss [her][his] hand then cries.

- some grand epilogue, showing EDI n Joker are happy, Geth and Quarian rebuilding Rannoch, etc etc -

Move on to the next scene.
[No dialogue needed. Just insert appropriate music here instead]
LI is looking over the Presidium (where Liara used to stand) Sheppard walks towards the LI, a shot of LI turning and facing Sheppard with a smile. They embraced, kissed, stood near each other and started talking, watching over the rebuilt citadel.

( Btw, if the above scene is possible, can I request Kaidan wearing the formal Alliance blues like Hackett's? Thx XD ..)

Question:
Do you think it's better to just cut the Memorial scene so the flow of the story could make more sense?

And btw the reason here why I'm using Miranda in the Sheppard lives scenario it's because she was the head of Project Lazarus, spent 2 years of her life trying and succeeding in bringing back Sheppard to life. So she knows a hell lot off stuff going on in the Commander's body and if anyone can save Shep's battered body again, then it's gotta be her.

*Slaps forhead* should've added a version where Shep has a non LI X_x'

- If Sheppard dies, then it is Hackett that's standing still by the casket with his head down, gave the final salute to the Commander and walks away.

- If Sheppard lives, then it will be Joker and EDI visiting the Commander in the hospital.
- Then it is Shep looking over the Presidium alone with an optimistic smile plastered on her / his face.

That's all I can think of for now, though.

A while back I spent some time playing around with some of the audio and video files in the game to replace the "stargazer scene".  In terms of modding the ending that was all I could do.  I was able to get an alternate bink video and audio files to play instead of the stargazer scene using ME3 Explorer.  However since the Extended Cut was released this no longer works.

There are some cut audio files from ME1 of Shepard being rescued from the council chambers as well as some from ME3 that I used.  If anyone is interested in listening to these I can provide them.

My only problem with the ending was Shepard being left in a pile of rubble in the breath scene.  I think this is also much easier to change with simply editing video and audio files.  Currently, this is all we can do. 

If there is a way I could help I would like to.

I no longer have the final version I created, but I do have an earlier version.  These were all still a test to see what could be done.  Also this only replaced the stargazer scene and nothing else.  This is in the zip file, including some of the audio files I used.

Also the process I used was very time consuming and convoluted, I hope that a better way exist, it was a learning experience though.  Most of my time on this was spent sifting through the game audio file to find lines of dialogue, music and even background noises that play during the stargazer scene.  Then looking for other files to replace those with.  I used ME3 explorer to replace them in the game files.  Swapping out bink videos was easy.  Another hard part was getting a freeware program to play a video clip in reverse, used to create the inhale/exhale pattern.  I was surprised at how something so simple became a challenge.

Long story short.  The way I did this required a lot of replacing audio files with new ones in the game in order for it to work.  I did not create a "how to" when I did this.  Also the Extended Cut changed where the game pulls some audio files for dialogue.  This is why it no longer worked the way I first created it.

Originally I wanted to include a scene with Shepard in the hospital.  There already is such a scene in the game; we just need to be able to swap out character models.  Currently we can't do that very well.  The best I found that worked only did so on the Normandy, nowhere else.  The only thing close I found was this video.  According to the PC modding thread though, this is justt a glitch with the game and not a mod.

@d1ta: Those sound like great ideas. The main problem is getting the visual right. You'd have to determine who the LI of the player is and show them instead of everyone else. In my latest project (see above), I used the structure of the memorial scene for this because there all these state checks are already implemented in the game and all you have to do is shuffle around who does what. Introducing a completely new scene would be much more complex.

@sentinel: Yep, the stargazer scene was one of my first targets as well. btw, you probably already know but you can easily update the mod for the EC, just extract the relevant files with the DLC explorer, change them and put them back. Works like a charm.

That is not quite right. You can have the phrase both ways. I chose this way because it is also a reference to the memorial plaque at launch complex 34 at Cape Canaveral for the Apollo 1 crew. Since the name "Shepard" itself, according to Casey, is a reference to the first American in Space, Alan Shepard, I thought it would fit perfectly ... this way round :).


EDIT: Also, I put up my first chapter of the sequence modding tutorial. I plan to do regular updates.

If possible I'd suggest moving the quote plaque to the top or changing
the colour/texture so it doens't look similar to the plaques of the
names of the dead. Having it where it is now, looking exactly the same,
but fufilling a different purpose drew the eye. It made me wonder about
it when I should have been focused on the scene of the crew standing too
and letting go of the stresses of the war while mourning the lost.

I ahven't really used that feature much but I thought this was already possible. Check out the tutorials here. There is one that says "How to import textures into fc files". Hope that helps.

Redbelle: That's a good idea. At least a color change should not be too hard. I am hesitent to chnge the location because either we'd have to change animations as well or the camera angles would be off at times.

Hey guys, I finally put up the music import tutorial. A warning though, changing music is really a quite delicate "surgery" at the moment and I can only recommend this for people who know their way around HEX editors and some such. Of course, if you want to get into it, go for it but make sure to backup your original files!
