He can't fight worth S**T, out of every one of my char he has died the most . His crying is pathetic and for a man no less , i mean he didn't even know Duncan long enough to be crying so much. Because Allister was the last one to join before you. So he was already a( i use this lightly) man.
He straight up lies to your face about the arl not being his dad . then gives you a waa, people are mean to me
when i tell them ,as a weak excuse . A smart ass that wont give you a straight answer
if his virginity depended on it .
And then even though he never did it he says no to you . He wants nothing
to do with responsibilities what so ever . i don't know why you like this guy so
much, now don't get mad at me I'm just asking OK .can you explain please?
Why do people like any of the characters? Certain traits will appeal or repel in any of them. You could look at any of them. On my bad days, Wynne is insufferably smug. Sten is arrogant and pretentious. Alistair is spineless, and passive aggressive. Morrigan is a unmitigated harridan. Leliana is a stifling attention wh*re. Shale is an emo wanna be hardass. Zevran is a sleazy dilettante. Only Dog and Ohgren are exactly what they appear to be, hehe.
They all have negative traits. Each player will find some of those traits more or less annoying, and have a lower or higher threshold accordingly. I personally cannot stand Morrigan. I don't care how much side boob you get, it won't make up for her insufferable melodramatic personality constantly questioning, belittling and haranguing me. Your mileage may vary.
People keep bringing up the son of the king thing as an example of Alistair's duplicitous nature. Really? I just finished a city elf playthrough and we made it to the Alienage before he found out I was previously engaged (and he was a tad surprised). You have the option through the whole game to lie and cheat, swindle and kill and can be a right git to everyone you meet. Allow some other characters their moral flaws.
In literal fact, Alistair explains why he doesn't tell you. It doesn't make any difference to him who his father was. This is a man who has had it hammered home his entire life that he will never, under any circumstances, ever be in the running for the throne. A hidden heir can foster rebellions, cause unrest and topple the existing power structure. If you play through to an Alistair as king ending, that's exactly what it does. His reluctance to reveal his heritage and take the throne isn't whining. It's a survival mechanism not to tell anyone. Grey Wardens are not necessarily good people, and the assassins, spies and blood mages in your merry band aren't the most trustworrthy to have overhearing your secrets. It's a wise decision for him not to tell you, and a responsible one.
As for the fighting thing, my easiest and cleanest playthrough was as a tank class warrior. It's incredibly overpowered, and setting Alistair up with good gear and a rotation of stuns and knockdowns makes him all but impossible to kill. The only thing ever to kill him with a good set up was being chewed on by the high dragon if I couldn't break the grab. Your milage may vary, but in terms of survivability, he's hands down one of the harder ones to kill, in my experience.
