Please post only 1. Gotta say my all time favorite is The Master from the original Fallout.

He is an awesome example of a sort of idealistic, cyborg-like being (actually a combination of many humans, animals and a computer). In the end he's nor good, nor bad. It's how the player chooses to view him. He genuinely believes he's doing the right thing and even when you show him that his plan is doomed to fail Master just calmly accepts the truth and commits suicide. Truly, a great villain. Shame that other Fallout's didn't have that kind of a powerful antagonist, though I got to admit that Legate Lanius from New Vegas left me a big impression.

Anyway, who's your favorite video game antagonist? Comment below, let me know!

I cannot argue with the Master. I also loved Lou tenant, guys voice and death scene left its mark. Though yeah in the end i am going to have to agree with the master.

Loghain from DAO; allowed bias and bigotry to sway his own sense of honor, pride, and beliefs. Plus he allowed Tim Curry to be his main advisor; should have vetted personel a bit more IMO.

Handsome Jack. Just constantly **** talks to you,

Was really funny when he met the girl with the scar on her face, described how her dead was dead then he shot her!

'Did you see that?! Her head just went pffftt!'

Not a accurate quote but something along those lines. I loved it.

I have a few but i'll just name one

Looks like a big dumb brute at first glance but he was smart enough to kill 2 kings and outsmart several key people including Iroveth and Phillipa. Not only that but he's the reason for all the **** that happened in the witcher 2.

Caius Ballad is pretty great, if only for the fact that he actually succeeds in his plan. But there's someone else who I think is a better villain. Problem is, I can't think of who that is! I'm drawing a blank, brain why you do this?

My favorite *antagonist* (I do not use the word villain for good characters)

Posted Image

Letho of Gulet.
Check my articles on The Witcher 2 as to why.

Of the games I've played, Jon Irenicus always springs to mind when I think of antagonists.

Letho is at the top for being the manipulative puppeteer that he was. Letting him live is my canon run in TW2. White Rayla, not strictly a villian, but ruthless enough to be one with a visceral, tragic story. Saren, what a deluded and commanding character. And RockSteady did the Joker right in Arkham City, after a cartoonish effort with him in Arkham Asylum.

I despise the term "villain" due to it often carrying a sense of evil for a character, which rings more true for something like the Archdemon of Dragon Age. I prefer the term "antagonist" like KoP for well-written characters that oppose you -- and if possible, have me empathize/sympathize with them and maybe even agree with their goals, though that's not required.

So in that vein, my favorite antagonists would be the following -- sorry, I can't post just one:

Vayne Carudas Solidor

Posted Image

Judge Magister Gabranth

Posted Image

Cidolfus Demen Bunansa

Posted Image

Teyrn Loghain Mac Tir

Posted Image

The Boss

Posted Image

And to an extent Organization XIII/Master Xehanort

Posted Image

There are others.

Having not played the Witcher series -- computer can't handle the awesome, apparently -- I can't comment on their antagonists. And to my great sorrow do I find that set of circumstances to be.

It's why I fervently hope that the Witcher 2 comes to PS3. I can deal with the lack of the first if I could at least play the second. But deep in my soul, I bear the feeling that it shall not come to pass.

Now for an actual villain...

Posted Image

Though to an extent, I'd call him an antagonist as well. Only to an extent though. He's certainly both.

For villains, I have others just like I have multiple favorite antagonists.
