If you're in a PUG, mess around with your character outside the lobby.

Agreed on the latter point. I was one of the stronger complainers of people who would fidget between games and think people should tweak things offline. However, they should still allow for a slightly larger extension between ready up. We've all been caught forgetting to put something on at the last minute.rmccowen wrote...
If you're around and paying attention, just ready and unready to reset the timer. If you're with friends, ask them not to ready until you're done.

Only if they start the timer when first player is ready. In COD this works really well, even when you do adjustments for your classes.

I wasn't speaking about myself, per se. Perhaps I should've clarified, I can do a full out repecc (guns, reset powers, appearance) in under 30 secs. The timer isn't so much a problem for me as it is for others. I LIKE the auto-timer, but at the same time why throw a game when the last guy comes in under prepared? To be fair, you still have to give the noobies a fair chance to learn.templarphoenix wrote...

Well if team mates wanna play with my Level 20 Volus having an effective level of 4 because I couldnt respec in time then they should leave it as is.....Then again those teammates didnt want credits either. I think it's too short deffo! Most arguments against are invalid because if everyones ready everyone should ready up. If you're respeccing a character you'll ready up when you're done. People are too impatient. If someone is genuinely AFK then you can kick them. I don't think they need a kick option and this countdown.
You're supposed to do that on your own time, not in some random lobby. People like you are the reason the timer was added in the first place.
It's simple. Be ready when you join someone's lobby. What you're saying is like going to a movie theater, then right as the previews are ending, you yell, "HEY, PAUSE THE MOVIE, I GOTTA TAKE THIS CALL REAL QUICK."
Jeeze.

I think the idea is that people will learn that the lobby won't simply wait on them--if everyone else is ready to go, you can't just goof off indefinitely. (Meaning the general case, of course, not you in particular.) Accordingly, people will figure out that they need to back out to the main menu to build and equip a new character from scratch, check the new BSN threads, take a bathroom break, manufacture a sandwich or cup of coffee, have a vicious argument with their significant other right in front of the Kinect mike, etc.Shadohz wrote...

There's no particular reason to think that a 20s time is a more effective incentive than (say) 30s, but if you let it run for too long you undermine the point of having it at all.

First off I'd like to thank BW for actually listening to the complaints of the players about other player behavior of delaying ready up. There's just one small problem: You guys made the auto-start time too short. I'm pretty profiecient in respeccing a character in just under 30 secs. That's about average for most experienced players I've come across. If someone has their mic off unfortunately they can't hear you say 'hold on just a sec I need to reset powers for next game'. I think 60 secs would be a better time overall so you don't have people resetting the time to finish their load change or caught in the middle of one.
thanks again

Yeah, that's the takeaway here I think. If you're in a lobby with friends, then they'll wait for you and you probably have a mic. Respec all you want. But if you're in a random lobby after going through Quick Match, then don't respec in the lobby. It's just ridiculous. Or if you're so fast that you can do all of this in 30 seconds, then starting your respec as soon as you get back should be MORE than enough time since most people don't ready up the instant the former match completed.
The whole point of Quick Match is that it's supposed to be quick. But it won't be very quick when everyone feels that they can sit in the lobby while they respec or level a new class to 20, take bathroom break, leave the room, etc... If you're not going to be ready to go inside of 20 seconds, just exit the lobby and finish your business before joining a new game. Why is this so hard?
