I am having a lot of difficulty with Leliane's AI. In melee she behaves stupidly. She will charge into the center of a bunch of mobs like a tank and get herself insta killed. If by some miracle (and lots of healing and wasted character actions) she survives, she NEVER even attempts to flank to backstab. I gave up on her in close combat and gave her a bow and assigned her the archer tactic. She refusef to be an archer and almost instantly draws her dagger and does the same stupid stuff. I really *don't* want to micro manage a rogue, if I did I would have played one as my PC. Suggestions?
Thanks.

The AI doesn't make characters try to flank or backstab on their own AFAICT, you need to position them yourself. The pause button is your friend
If you want Leliana to stick with her bow, change the tactics from Default to Ranged and make sure you don't have a tactics slot set to switch weapon sets to melee.

Open tactics, look at top right hand corner, see behavior? Change it.

She's better as an archer if you don't change her talents via a respec mod. In the tactics screen change her behavior to "ranged" instead of default. That's why she keeps switching weapons.
You can't make anyone flank via AI. You either have to control the flanker manually or you need to use the tank to move people so that the rogues are in flanking position.
Or, get the coup de grace talent and set up your tactics so that they are constantly using dirty fighting/riposte as well as keeping deathroot extract applied. That way they'll at least backstab when a target is stunned.

The threads I have read indicate it is impossible to write a tactic that reliably keeps a rogue's weapon posined and them attacking with it.
