So as I'm going through the forums I notice that ALOT of people are against all the romance options being Bisexual and I want to know WHY? I personally have no problem with all the romance options being Bisexual, I think this actually solves the issues we used to have in DA2 and DA:O when players wanted to romance somebody that they couldn't because of the characters gender. For example Sebastian, you can only romance Sebastian if you have a female Hawke and I know a lot of people who were pissed off that they didn't get a chance to romance Sebastian with their male Hawke but guess what? Now... WE DON'T HAVE THAT PROBLEM! My question is: If you are against all the romance options being Bisexual why?

Seems unrealistic for every character you encounter to be bisexual

the romances should be deleted

I don't know. Just seems kinda odd every character should identify as bisexual. Certain personalities are more understandable. However, I guess I can see sensitivity on that issue too because characters who are identified as bisexual could be seen as a stereotype. So, the easiest way to avoid that? Make them all bisexual.

I guess I understand that. But it just doesn't seem realistic everyone would be bi. Then again...Dragon Age is it's own world and maybe they have a very large bi population...who knows...

cause "they" think it unrealistic and "they seem to want "realism" in a fantasy
when lets face in a group of up to 8 4 of them would love you anyway is unrealistic. people just need to remove the giant stick up their butts and get over it cause it's a damn fantasy it is not real it does not have to be realistic

All romance options should be purged. Followers should consist of Nugs only.

I think this is the big problem. People draw too many parallels with our own world to Dragon Age...

Your post suggests an overwhelming opposition when it seems to me that there are only a few of us that keep popping up repeatedly. The support for all romances to be available to any protagonist is greater.

There is the issue where it comes across as pandering to a specific minority, and some of us feel that it makes the romance stories less sincere. I actually liked the fact that Traynor didn't go for broShep and the situation that happened. It showed that a relationship doesn't have to be about sexual availability as broShep and Traynor remain friends.

Also, it has been stated (despite some of our claims to the logical impossibility) by a BW rep that bisexuality only exists for metagamers. This seems like an attempt to appeal to every crowd with an excuse to those that don't like every character being "PC/hero-sexual". There haven't been many bisexual characters if you play through only once (and once only). You only find out about a different option by playing again.

In the end, though, the biggest gain to "PC/hero-sexual" characters without regards to any pandering is easier development. Given my guesses based on testimony of EA's past, I'd rather they have fewer complications for something that is merely optional anyway.

I don't recall anything in the lore stating that sexual orientation distribution amongst the people of Thedas is in any way different from the real modern world

As I tend to only play through a game once, I really don't care if all the love interests are bisexual because I'm only romancing one of them anyways.

Bisexual - no problem.

Characters that sexuality changes based on if you choose a heart dialogue in conversation or not, does bother me.

More rejection from characters please.

Majority of the characters in DA series are straight. The only characters that are bi is Leliana, Zev, Fenris, and Isabela Wade and Harren being gay and Merrill is hawkesexual. Beth is intrested. in females. Yes that's so unrealistic.

That's funny because when I play a game I expect it NOT to be realistic.

marsh, is it just me or are you acting different (little punctuation, capitalization, etc.)?

I agree with marsh, btw.

What I meant to say there is I'd like to see more variation in personalities. Having a split between hetero and bi makes more sense to me. Going all bi just seems lazy and Bioware trying to avoid controversy. I can understand why they'd do it though and it allows everyone to romance the companion they like.

I didn't mean it to say I think all bisexual people are the same. I can see why you thought it came off like that. I should've worded it better, sorry.

Fun fact: What happens in Jason's playthrough has nothing to do with what happens in Bob's playthrough.

In other words, "bisexual" is a very loose term in this case, as the love interests in question are not really that (with the exception of those who do say so). It's about player convenience, plain and simple.

Bisexuals want to have their cake and eat it too. The way I look at it is, you had a sex with a guy and now you expect me to go down on you too? That's like I'm eating dick. Gross dude.

I like the way ME3 did it. Exclusive options for heterosexuals and homosexuals. With a bi option. Not every character has to be bisexual.

question how does it cheapen your romance? it doesn't mean she loves you less it doesn't make it less sincere. it should make it more so because she chose you.

While I don't entirely disagree, I'd like to say ,as I have in past, that there's a breaking point in someone's ability to believe what's going on is actually happening at some point.  No, realism isn't completely possible in a fantasy, otherwise it wouldn't be a fantasy, but that doesn't mean one should totally accept if the game randomly stated that your guy/girl is actually a girl/guy, with no hint or reason for why.  "Nonsencial claims?  That's okay, totally believeable and fitting - none of it's real anyways!"

There are quiet, sometimes "invisible" rules that one shouldn't break - a contract that the reader will believe things that aren't actually possible, and the author will keep their writings coherent and following certain, made up rules.   It's why some games, like Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, are utterly dismissed from the canon of their series, sometimes even officially - because it contradicts the rules and previous canon of its universe.
