Seems unrealistic for every character you encounter to be bisexual

the romances should be deleted

But fireballs, elves, dwarfs, darkspawn, dragons, magic and qunari are realistic right!?:wizard:

I don't recall anything in the lore stating that sexual orientation distribution amongst the people of Thedas is in any way different from the real modern world

Majority of the characters in DA series are straight. The only characters that are bi is Leliana, Zev, Fenris, and Isabela Wade and Harren being gay and Merrill is hawkesexual. Beth is intrested. in females. Yes that's so unrealistic.

The op said all romance options being defined as bi..

As others have said, it's not bisexual characters that draw ire so much as "player-sexual" ones.

So as I'm going through the forums I notice that ALOT of people are against all the romance options being Bisexual and I want to know WHY? I personally have no problem with all the romance options being Bisexual, I think this actually solves the issues we used to have in DA2 and DA:O when players wanted to romance somebody that they couldn't because of the characters gender. For example Sebastian, you can only romance Sebastian if you have a female Hawke and I know a lot of people who were pissed off that they didn't get a chance to romance Sebastian with their male Hawke but guess what? Now... WE DON'T HAVE THAT PROBLEM! My question is: If you are against all the romance options being Bisexual why?

Your post suggests an overwhelming opposition when it seems to me that there are only a few of us that keep popping up repeatedly. The support for all romances to be available to any protagonist is greater.

There is the issue where it comes across as pandering to a specific minority, and some of us feel that it makes the romance stories less sincere. I actually liked the fact that Traynor didn't go for broShep and the situation that happened. It showed that a relationship doesn't have to be about sexual availability as broShep and Traynor remain friends.

Also, it has been stated (despite some of our claims to the logical impossibility) by a BW rep that bisexuality only exists for metagamers. This seems like an attempt to appeal to every crowd with an excuse to those that don't like every character being "PC/hero-sexual". There haven't been many bisexual characters if you play through only once (and once only). You only find out about a different option by playing again.

In the end, though, the biggest gain to "PC/hero-sexual" characters without regards to any pandering is easier development. Given my guesses based on testimony of EA's past, I'd rather they have fewer complications for something that is merely optional anyway.

question how does it cheapen your romance? it doesn't mean she loves you less it doesn't make it less sincere. it should make it more so because she chose you.

"There is the issue where it comes across as pandering to a specific minority, and some of us feel that it makes the romance stories less sincere."

The answer was in the first part of the sentence that you addressed.

I'd be more worried about the fact that apparently someone is forcing you to read them.

Oh look, more of this romance crap. It's good to know people have their priorities in order when it comes to DA3 and what is needed in the game. Wish fulfillment is definitely number one on the list, and the rest is just window dressing... right?

These threads should end because, at this time, "player-sexual" NPCs seem to be the preference from the minor BW feedback we've received so far.

If they are playersexual, oh well. It is optional after all. As I also mentioned, playersexuality also removes some complications during development which is a bonus at this time.

It's about player convenience, plain and simple.

Aaaaaaaand, that's the problem. Diluting the character for the sake of "player convenience."

I do not like.

Because for many sexual preferences are an important part of one's personality, thus making everyone bisexual makes them look less "real" and the game world less realistic. I think that's the most common reasoning about this.

I do agree to an extent, that said it's not something that bothers me since it's quite easy to avoid the flirt options when they come up.

It's very likely that Bioware is going the same way with DA3, I believe David Gaider said given the few romances options it's better to make them available from everyone no matter what gender you choose, which is a fair point.

Here's a better question: why do people keep applying modern sexual identities to a fictional setting?

I actually love seeing pansexuals represented in video games. It gives me the warm fuzzies. Never change, BW.

Well I just want "romances" removed completely. I would like to say they are irrelevant to my enjoyment of the game, unfortunately they take up game resources I personally would rather be spent on other things. I play games to get enjoyment from things I can't do during my day to day life. "Romance" is not one of those things, and that's even before consideration of the fact, that if I am looking for an outlet to express my sexuality, a video game is not the place I look to.

This theard is just one simple question "If you are against all the romance options being Bi then why?" Just because I made a simple post about the romane dosen't mean that the romance element in the game is all I care about. I understand that the DA3 section is filled with people talking about the romance.

Oh no, not this again. Personally I think that the best thing bioware could add to dragon age 3 is a fibbing system as intricate as red faction guerilla's demolition system, along with persistent corpses. If I get into a dragon age 2 style battle with multiple waves of darkspawn, I want the battle to end with my inquisitor standing upon a mountain of dismembered body parts. Why no love for me?

I think there's a level of Hell where all they do is endlessly discuss whether all the love interests in Bioware games should be bisexual.

Oh, you're one of those people.

I'll bite. I happen to be in a very lovely relationship.. does that mean that I quit watching movies where the protagonist falls in love? Nope. Reading books where the main character hooks up? Nah. playing video games where the pc can develop an interesting, great-addition-to-the-plot relationship? Absolutely not.

plotwise, romance is an awesome side dish and a different character's perspective can really change your perception of the game, your stance on issues, and your worldview...  just like, omg, in a real relationship.

No snark intended, just don't assume that everyone plays these games because they're lonely basement dwellers. My SO and I play BW games together and giggle over our romance choices sometimes.

To add to that, I wish it was that easy in rl to hit on someone. If only those cheesy one-liners worked all the time. Kate Upton, here I come!

Well, in life, if I met a girl who only liked women, it wouldn't really matter how much I liked her, because it would never happen.

Making everyone bisexual just so the player can get in their pants is just ridiculous. Mass Effect 3 did it right. Having characters of every sexual orientation.

*pats* I was stating the reasons it doesn't interest me, stop being so defensive.  I enjoy it in other context too, the medium that is video games is just too shallow for it to draw my interest in that regard.
