Dragon Age needs a new bug-fix patch in a bad way.
I've done some testing on +healing received items, and they don't effect healing in any way whatsoever. Others have commented on this as well. How long can a wait can we expect for a patch to fix this? Seems like it's too important a game feature to just have not work indefinitely.
This certainly isn't the only bug of this nature that needs to be addressed ASAP, from what I understand +elemental damage % items are currently capped at 30% for some unknown reason. Is this intended? With the utter lack of solid gameplay documentation for Dragon Age, how are we ever supposed to know?
I hate to keep comparing new RPGs to World of Warcraft, and I know WoW was very buggy in the earlier days, but there's something to be said for the level of detail they put into providing the user with all the information they would need to fully understand how each stat, each talent, and each ability interacts with each other. This is something Dragon Age is sorely missing. Many talents provide erroneous information, and most don't provide any information at all other than a very basic mechanics explanation. How much attack and defense does Aura of Might actually provide? How much spell power does Arcane Mastery really give? Some talents have been demystified by trial and error with the results posted on sites like Dragon Age Wiki, however a great deal of talent and ability information is a complete enigma.
Also, another rather huge issue that needs to be addressed, is the uselessness of Shapeshifting specialization for mages. I'm not exactly sure what your design team was thinking letting this one slip thru. Shapeshifter forms have incredibly limited ability/spell repertoires and very, very meager defensive stat increases compared to an Arcane Warrior. This would make most people say "well that's ok, you can shift back to caster form to weave in spells to add to the spec", except that most of the forms have very long cooldowns, and long casting times, preventing the mage from easily getting back into his/her preferred form. This simply won't due. Without any extra unique abilities as incentive to stay in an animal form, combined with the difficulty of shifting between caster and animal form, this spec is essentially unplayable as a main character. ALL specializations should be potentially powerful choices for a main character.
If any of the other players out there on this forum agree with what I've written, or feel they need to add to this discussion, please do so. Let the developers know that Dragon Age is not yet complete, and that there is a great deal of interest from the community that they finish their game.
