Holy sh*t, +approve!

If I was ever going to all-out reference a photo for an art, that one would be Tannusen as fast as I could draw it.

Edit: *facepalm* Okay, fine, like folks aren't sick enough of it yet:

I need to actually play the game again someday so I can upload more (graphically-challenged) screenshots.

Please keep posting it, Aro! I'm never going to be sick of it.

Looking at the Friday pictures, I'm starting to realise that body hair is really out of fashion on men. (And women, come to that!). What a shame! I suppose that for models and actors, hair removal shows up the muscles better.

It's funny how Zevran sometimes gets really close in the game.   Oghren is somewhere in be background, looking pointedly in the other direction.

He really does, the one time I took Alley to the Pearl and asked Sanga to show the men, he ran up exactly that close to her as soon as I moved her towards the dudes. When I moved her to the side and away, he kept staring quite fixedly at her.

Meanwhile Morrigan was checking out the couch about five or six IC feet away from him, opposite from Alley, and Leliana hadn't really moved from her spot where the game had dropped them. I lol'd. I wonder if he has some weird hidden pathing thing on him, like the rumored phantom tactic to defend the PC even if you've changed his tactics.

Yes, I love the way Zevran is protective and watchful. I wonder if it gets creepy for people who don't like him?

Charsen, thanks! I like any amount of body hair on men, but my boyfriend has a hairy chest, so it's a bit of a weakness.

I have a picture of one of my PCs and Zevran getting married, but it's on a naked playthrough, so I'll have to censor it.

'Does this mean we're married in Orzammar?'

Shale as maid of honour, of course, and Morrigan as bridesmaid.   I've given them wedding loincloths for decency's sake.  And added some confetti, and given the dwarf in the background a wedding hat and a flower.

LOL, your naked hijinks crack me up. XD

Speaking of hijinks, and Zevran's weird pathing/defending thing, here's something I posted on the dragon_age LJ comm a while back:

A master at creative running. Away. -- The following is the story of how I killed Arl Howe. By running a lot. And maybe screaming.

Oh, that's really funny!  It's obviously the way that fight should be played!    I think I'll try it with my rogue when he gets there.

I am a master kiter in Guild Wars and Aion, and apparently Dragon Age as well. But seeing Zevran sprinting up the hallway at me, with company, seriously made me facepalm. Silly Crow. So at one point Random Redshirt was chasing Zevran... who was chasing Howe... who was chasing me... who was running back towards / past Zevran.

I wish I'd had FRAPS, although the additional lag probably would have gotten me very dead. Howe is deceptively fast for an old man!

On my first playthrough, I expected that Alistair, if anyone, would act as a protector. I was surprised that it turned out to be Zevran. It's as if protecting the PC is his sole purpose. And he needs so little protecting himself. It's very swoonworthy.

I just cheat and turn down the difficulty if I'm struggling, though.  I've been doing that a lot on naked playthroughs.   I find anything other than a mage difficult to play - or maybe I'm just rubbish at setting up mages' tactics so I always want to take them over.   I also sometimes play on 'easy' through the boring bits then tun up the dificulty (and sometimes even put clothes on) for the boss fights.

That was my "normal" playthrough, my first PC (other than the mage who I didn't play much past Redcliffe due to his messed up face finally WTFing me too much). I managed to avoid ever turning down the diff for her despite her being my utility archer chick who was a wimp for the first 5/6ths of Origins (and was a GOD in Awakening).

Of course, I had to get creative sometimes, especially since I didn't want to save with any PC deaths. XD

Not to be instrusive, but I do have an inquiry:

Zev reminds me of almost every drunk single guy I have seen in a bar; lude, crude, and believes he is the Maker's own gift to women. In RL, this type simply gains the number to the pay telephone outside the Ladies room.; not their home phone. What makes this virtual lech any different?

Have you ever spared him and SPOKEN to him? He has one of the deepest character-stories in the game.

Edit: Zevran only seriously flirts with the Warden, unless you request that he doesn't. His flirting with the other characters is only to get a rise out of them. Seriously, do a playthrough where you at least make him a friend. You needn't romance him, just befriend him. He's one of the best friends the Warden can have.

If you get past his initial deflection tactics (the behavior you describe), he's a very different person.  He wears his sexuality and sensuality like a shield: it keeps people from getting too close, and keeps him from becoming emotionally invested.  If you can stand him long enough to get past it (or find it funny as I did), he's, as someone so eloquently described it, "the kind of guy who takes the **** life gives him and makes lemonade".  He's an understanding and supportive lover, and an equally devoted friend if you choose the other route.

On the note of lechery, he is also the only companion you don't have to sleep with to romance.  You have to ask him once, but you don't have to sleep with him at all to "complete" the romance.

Most of the time, if fact. Only my Human Noble killed him, as he had not spared Sten either. All the HN Warden could see was the image of his dead nephew.

But based on my experience with him, and others like him, he is only as deep as his trousers allow him to be. I see only the manipulative, say anything to score sort; nothing romantic at all.

As for breaking it off, my CE female Warden will lose 10-20 approval if she approaches the subject. I find it easier to allow him to have more rope, and let him hang himself with it later.

Did he tell you why he accepted the contract on the Wardens?  You can't really understand the character without getting that dialogue.

He doesn't act like a lecherous drunk guy in a bar, though.  He's respectful and speaks when spoken to.   He flirts (which I like) and makes it clear he's available, but he's not at all pushy.   If you do invite him to your tent he won't come unless you make it clear that you do want sex.   He doesn't seem to have any desire to push himself onto somebody who might not want him.

You do have to have some conversation with him before you even ask him to the tent.  (I haven't tried getting him there with gifts and no takling, but I presume you have to talk to him at some point to turn the romance on, and allow the tent option to come up.   I'm sure Ejoslin will know!).   He turns out to be interesting and good company.  He hints at a pretty awful background, but there's not a trace of self-pity.

At the point where he enters the game (without the ZevranASAP mod), it seemed to me that I'd been playing a long time without the romance I'd been expecting.  My first character had managed to start something with Alistair (and with Leliana too, by accident), but it didn't seem to be going anywhere.   After what was, for my character, quite a long period of celibacy, Zevran's open, giving attitude was a breath of fresh air.   You don't need to work to get him into bed.  You don't have to give him gifts.  You don't have to help him with quests.  He just wants you as you are, and that's rather nice.

(I'm talking about just early on, before you're properly into the romance.   Later, there are lots more reasons to be attracted to him.  But right at the beginning, I think he still the most attractive of the romanceable characters).

Wow. You've had a lot of bad experiences with "lech" types, haven't you?

Really, Zev's not all about sex. As Tellervo said, even if you romance him, you don't need to sleep with him. You do have to ask him at least once to finish the romance, but that's it. Zev was raised initially in a wh*rehouse, then trained as assassin. For him, sex is a way to be close to someone without the emotional attachment. But, if romanced, he falls hard and fast for the Warden, even if the Warden never sleeps with him. It's incredibly sweet, and shows just how much the Warden sparing his life means to him.

His flirting isn't too intrusive, anyway, and I say that as someone who gets weird about being flirted at at all IRL. He doesn't set off my "You're an ***hole who is pranking me and/or looking for a belt-notch" radar, and if anything my radar usually goes off far more often than is likely accurate...

And as others have said, you can romance him without sex.

Maybe I did not make my original comments clear. His approach of being open and honest IS like many or most of the sharks I have met.

He appears to be all about the defensive jest, then allows himself the opp to deflect more in-depth probing until later, as this will reel in interested prey. I thought that matching him with Oghren later was perfect casting.
