So Zevran is popular?

I was under the impression he wasn't, but 1000+ pages obviously proves me wrong.

Well I for one hate his guts.

Well, thanks to MG pointing out the relevant sliders I think I've somewhat fixed Tannu, although with my graphics settings as they must be, he's always going to look just a hair too baby-faced because the textures only half-load. At least the schoolboy blush is gone.

There's some things I can't quite tweak, like the way the stupid game insists on doing the upper lip, and there's something still a bit off about his face, but it's playable now.

Random combat!

Running away from my graphics, I wager. I love how the toolset model only vaguely resembles the in-game model. >_<

He looks like Tannusen from most angles now, at least. There's just some things the game insists on doing to faces that I can't seem to fix.

Edit: Zevran! Have another fanartspam because I hate him so:

But isn't that response already basically there? It seemed most of the people who disliked turning down the ring did so because there's no opportunity to say you love him, thus making the whole exchange feel too much like the Warden pressuring Zev for no reason.

Hmm, I wonder about something like, "I care about you too much to accept this unless it means something." That way you establish that you have feelings for him without spoiling the later confession? Once again the wording needs to be better, but it would be nice if some of the people who do dislike the earring rejection could comment.

Bingo!  If I had a readme, you'd get the credit. Fixing it up now!  WIll put in a link in a few.

Edit: Gah, no, line is too long.  Hmmmm, will figure it out.

Alright. I give up. I've got a headache, it's still 70-f*ck degrees at 11pm, and the game Froze after only an hour. I'm going to silently curse Sony and their "bright ideas".

Second edit: One other thing to keep in mind about the earring conversation.  The rejection will STILL end with Zevran saying, "You are a most frustrating..." so the wording can't be too sweet or else he'll sound like a total dick.

Right, but if you said, "I love you, Zevran, and I can't accept this unless it means something," (but phrased better) then it wouldn't sound unnatural for him to give his snippy response. Also, it would play into things nicely later when he finally admits his feelings, since you would see why he reacts so harshly to you saying you love him.

And look, dwarf kisses! I can't tell what you changed exactly, but it is lovely!

I just wonder if "I love you," there would take away something from his confession where he's telling you all he needs to know is if you feel the same for him.  Maybe instead, something like, "I need for this to mean something."  Ugh, I don't know!

Personally, I would lean away from using "I love you" from the PC there, because I don't know that that would trigger such an angry response from Zevran... or at least, not that particular response.   But I think this is a really personal question -- as the discussion all day has shown! ;)

My own experience with that conversation and turning the earring down was that my PC was frustrated and a bit hurt with Zevran's inability to admit his feelings there.  (The whole "It's meant a lot to me, but so have--- so has what you've done", in addition to the token of affection matter.)  And -- this earring is probably one of Zevran's most prized possessions -- what else has he been able to keep for so very long?  So my PC would have been very reluctant to take such a thing from him without some clear understanding of what it meant.  It was almost too big a gesture.

So, it would feel proper for him to have said, "I need for this to mean something", and nothing more -- he knows Zevran has issues with Love, but would want to be very clear about what the earring meant...

(I hope that makes sense, my attention is shot at the moment..)

Hmmmm, is it that much different than the line, "I'll only take it if it means something"?  Is it enough different I mean?  Hah, I'm agonizing!

How about, "It would mean more to me. I cannot accept it."  And have a low disapproval instead of a medium disapproval to go with it.

Yeah I figured. Hmmm....

"I care too much to pretend this means nothing."

Hmmm no. Ummm...

"I want need this to mean something... because I care."

Arrrrg pooey, it's tough. :pinched: But I really am going off what Sannox and others were saying in that it needs some indication that the Warden has feelings, too.

Edit: Oh that's a good one! And agreed on the approval loss. Do it! You can always update it later once more people give feedback.

The words technically mean the same in both, but the changed version sounds more..I don't know.  The PC saying s/he *needs* it to mean something is different from what is in-game currently where the PC is demanding a declaration from Zev but only implying one back.  The Warden saying s/he needs it to mean something in order to take something so important to Zev changes it for me.

Hmm. How about changing the first to say, "I care too much for you to pretend this means nothing." That way, you are saying that you care deeply for Zev, without telling him you love him.

Hmmm, so you're suggesting I change the original line instead of just add a new one.  This is possible as well.

I'm not sure about that because it isn't hard to read that conversation as Zev implying that it means something, just that he isn't able to say it yet.

Yes. Do it. Now.

If anything, once people try it out in game they'll be able to come up with suggestions if it needs to be changed. But for now, it sounds much better. <3

Right but that's the whole point of the rejection in general. At least this way it puts out there that the Warden has feelings and wants these feelings out in the open. I think that's an improvement over the basic, "I'll only accept it if it means something," which implies even more that the Warden is clueless about his feelings.

Yes, you're right, he obviously in that conversation is telling the warden he cares.  *sigh*

Second edit: Ok, I'm actually going to go with this for now.  It CAN be changed.  But it's past my bedtime!

I completely missed that you were *adding* a line, not changing one.  My brain is toast.  My issue with several of the convos with Zev is that the conversation options mean something other than what I would have initially thought.

Too long :(  Oh, on the first file I posted, there's a small problem with the approval to the friendship dialog (as in, I forgot to put it in my new line).  But since your approval will be close to max by the time you get that, it probably isn't a big deal.  I put a medium increase in the new one with the earring convo, though.  It will be up in a few minutes.  The line I went with for now is, "It would mean too much to me. I can't accept it."  I'm not attached to it, but it seems to capture, at least in my fogged brain, the warden turning it down because of his/her feelings for Zevran, without it taking away from his confession.

Ok, I put up a copy of zevran_main.dlg with the changes listed here. This HAS to be used with ZevRing DT_Compatible. If you're using the manual version, you need this zevran_main.dlg to overwrite the one in the ZevRing directory (and make sure you don't have a zevran_main.dlg in your DT directory if using the manual version of that. If you're using the override version, just put this file in your override folder.

He now gives his "romance active" lines in Arl Eamon's estate (just dont' attempt to give him his quest gifts there)
ALL first time sexytime lines lead to a kiss, not just a couple of them.
I fixed that DT .93 bug where his dialog would cut off if you invite him to the tent first, then change your mind, when you would try to invite him after that. If you've been hit by that bug, you know what I'm talking about.
I also did a change in the dialog where he thanks you for freeing him from the crows. I made the "I think of you as more than a friend" as a romance starter ONLY, but then added, "I consider you a friend, as well, and more," for wardens who are in love with him, and that leads to him saying, after saying that he feels the same, the friendship dialog there. The approval here is the same as for the romance starter.
I also put a change up when he forces you to choose between him and Leliana. He now gives the non-sex version to a warden "Our flirtation has been fun." This is for both genders because getting it for different genders would actually be a bit of a chore. I didn't mess with the approval, so there's more potential for loss and less for gain here as well.
When rejecting the earring, there's now a nicer line with a low approval drop instead of a medium approval drop. The line can be changed as can the approval. As can anything in here really. Well, I'm not taking out the sexytime kisses or the romance active lines. But anything else!

I know this is the Zev-thread, but Aimo just put up a new comic for her Aeducan/Alistair pairing.

Edited because that comment didn't do justice to the speechlessness I experienced.

(also throwing my support in for "It would mean something more to me. I can't accept it." unless that's already how it was changed)
