EDIT-  Can't really find anything online about those two.  I ask about those two characters specifically because towards the end I felt like they were being set up to be integrated into the team.  Johnson I feel would fill the position of the snarky badass, now that we no longer have the King of the Weevils.

EDIT-accidentally quoted my own post.  But the last thing I wanted to add about Children of Earth was that at the end, I was thinking, "Man, that decision and its fallout are so Dragon Age."

....on the torchwood subject... I hate that show sometimes WHY couldent it have been that unlikeable selfish self righteous annoying **** Gwen that died WHY unless they bring back James Marsters as a series regular Im gonna have ALOT of trouble watching a season 4 now that pretty much every character I like but jack is dead and even then they would probably kill Marsters off as well

Impossible.  James Marsters is unkillable.  He can martyr himself and then just show up in a different show in the same universe to kick more ass.  If they killed him on Torchwood, a couple months later he'd be carjacking the TARDIS.

... I feel like I might like Gwen a lot more if I were Welsh.  She's supposed to be like, an "everyman" type character, but I feel there are idiosyncrasies that don't resonate with me because I'm not familiar with them as an American.  I'll have to ask a UK fan.

Though I can imagine there are specific things that she's done that would make many people find her unlikeable.

seriously dont you remember that she cheated on her husband told him and was liek FORGIVE ME as she drugged him so he lost his memory? thats not "every man" thats selfish

she also needs to get off her damn high horse and by god are episodes focused on her so damn boring

as for james marsters... you know hes on caprica at the moment?

You're right.  You're right, that is a weird creepy jerk thing that she did and never really suffered repercussions for.  And people get away with creep things all the time in real life, but as the audience, we remember.  We know what you did, Gwen.

Gwen is OK. I like to have somebody from the 'real world' and I wouldn't want them to be 100% good and nice. Her husband is 100% good though, and I like him. She's probably there for eye candy as well, and she's a fairly strong female character.
