Wow.  I think I'm the goody-goody of the group.  I actually didn't drink until after I turned 21, and I still only drink rarely.  I'm not a big fan of most alcohol.  I cook with it, drink half a glass of wine, get giggly and hand the rest to my husband who snickers at me.

I don't drink much either.  (Although I can be bribed/swayed with Kahlua...)   I think the only time I've ever been drunk (not even the forgetful kind... I think... :?) was when I went stumbling around clubs in DC for a friend's bachelorette sendoff.   It did make being hit on by the college-age guys a bit more entertaining, I suppose. :P

Edit: top of the page?! Fack.  Have some earpr0n kissing.

I am a teetotaler. Not even Diet Coke, ladies and gentlemen. Anything except water and very few kinds of fruit juices is unpalatable to me.

Sometimes my digestive system is distressing.

hmm, I wonder if this is our culture/country's approach to alcohol showing or not... I know us English have a rep for being drinkers. I remember being treated like an alcoholic for enjoying a cocktail or three in the afternoon when I was in Hawaii >.>

And here I was thinking about the Irish and us Finns. The Brits, footy hooligans and some pissy youths of London aside are considered a very laid-back bunch. Heartbeat is a very popular series hereabouts. I had a guy from Manchester living downstairs for some years. He'd been playing in the punk bands in the 70's but while here he made noise with Bruckner's symphonies and his clarinet at most.

Well neither Brits nor Finns are at the top of my list for who I think of as being big drunks. It's more like Irish, German, Hungarian, Russian... Us Americans, too, are supposedly high up there in the binge drinking category, and I believe it. Hell, even in Japan there's all-you-can-drink at lots of restaurants, so getting ****-faced in public is common, and you'll always middle-aged men stumbling onto trains drunk at night. I think drinking is part of most countries' cultures.

Had a jeckle-and-hyde drunk father. So personally have never touched a single drop of the stuff, the smell of something open around me all by itself makes me a little PTSD anyway. Yeah, I'm a joy to be around. >_>

I do agree that our (the US') drinking laws are retarded, though, and the age should be dropped to 18. At least for the not-hard stuff if not all of it. Part of the problem is that it's so taboo here, and then people go stupid-wild with it. And despite hating the stuff personally, I'm of the opinion that if 18-year-olds can live on their own, vote, and enlist, it should be legal to buy beer, too.

*snickers* Alchoholism runs waaaay up and down both sides of my family. I'm a quarter Irish, and the next biggest chunks I know of are German and Hungarian. Explains a lot! I don't generally pay much attention to that stuff, particularly since almost all of my relatives who could tell me more are either dead or completely insane, but it does make you think, sometimes.

I feel so confused...which European country am I supposed to hate? Well, besides France but that's just a given. After all, I saw it on the Simpsons so it must be true. Image IPB

Well, the new healthcare bill passed in the U.S. is clearly a 'landslide toward Communism,' so we'll be joining you shortly. Then we'll all have fun in hell together. <3

Sarah, I think we meant our internal squabbles. I have no problem with the Swedes, Danes, Brits, Ducth, or Germans etc. Maybe the Grecians (not necessarily the individuals) are somewhat hated right now but it's mostly because of their bad economy. They appear to be swindlers, people are angry because they have to pay billions because of their governement's reckless waste of money.

Nonvita, you might just love the sauna. People running naked into the lake or snow from the sauna. Usually the sauna is just for personal hygiene, women and men can be there at the same time. That's one reason, most of us do not get that excited upon seeing naked people. Public saunas, like those in swimming pool buildings do have separate depts for men or women.

sorry but I hate alchohol

I'm 27 and I've never had more than a sip of most alcohols my friends have tried getting me to drink. Add in the fact that I'm on a beta-blocker for a random Heart Condition, and I NEVER drink.
