Random off-topic, this is what I did last night when too incoherent to write and too insomniac to sleep.
Pretty sad that it takes 6-8 hours for me to edit footage and music together, but it takes 20-30+ for me to produce a damn fanart. Meh.
*falls over* Now I run off to sleep before Sami attacks me with the red pen, haha. As in, my face!
I liked it. Of course, I hadven't seen Power Rangers in Space since it was actually on when I was around seven so I don't really remember much about the series. Astromena was the red ranger's sister, right? She got kidnapped as a child and then they convinced her to be good for all of two minutes until she got brainwashe again?
Yep, that'd be her.

PRiS was actually something I loved when it came out, although I couldn't put my finger on why at the time. I was too old to be watching "Power Rangers" by then, but there was much ass-kicking. I was pretty confused, haha.
It was only a fistful of years ago that I got hold of the whole thing in a torrent (it never hit DVD, I'm not sure the series even hit VHS) and re-watched it all, skipping the Giant Monster Battles -- which weren't even in every episode -- unless they were plot-related.
The plot's quite dark and just a little gruesome in places. It's the season that literally kills Zordon (blue head in a tube) on camera, the bad guys conquer the universe, etcetera. Astronema herself is snarky and smart and
conflicted, bouncing around in shades of grey more than true good or evil at any given point.
Aaaand then the next season turned her into a goody-goody, but we won't go there, hm? Apparently when she becomes a Ranger in that season she's the first to
not wear her color, still preferring black. I guess they couldn't weed
all the villain out of her...
I roleplayed Astronema -- shades of grey, Astronema -- for
years. Someone recently did a video review of the season before hers, and geeking at folks in the comments (and lots of unanimous "@#%^ YEAH, IN SPACE NEXT!" and "IN SPACE WAS THE BEST" and such) got me all nostalgic again. I really really miss writing her! I'm actually seriously thinking of looking for another multiverse game to start over on her in.
Oh, PRiS was also the season that used the least of the Japanese Sentai footage, and Astronema in fact is entirely a US-based creation. She doesn't
exist in Sentai. And IIRC, someone got fired for making PRiS too dark. Love it.
It had its campy moments, it was still PR after all, but it also had Ecliptor basically getting raped on screen ( D: I chopped that scene waaaaay down in the video, I should upload the original just for whenever someone snickers at my liking a PR season), the annihilation of the forces of good, Zordon's death, etc. And the tactics Astronema employed after that final hardware-enforced brainwashing
killed the guy who'd owned her for her entire life, because there was only room in the universe for one evil monarch. I guess wiping out things like "loyalty" was a mistake there, guys!
They worked a lot of depth and awesomeness into that season. I'm still pissed off that Ecliptor gets turned to dust, since by their own definition loyalty is an aspect of "good" and he had that in spaaades, but hey. It gives her something to be enraged over whenever I play her. Her views on "trust" are awesome, too. She'll go out of her way to make you distrust her, but if you trust her anyway she
is trustworthy. If you distrust her as intended, she'll stab you in the back the moment it's useful to do so!

I'll shush now. But Astronema is one of my all-time favorite characters in anything, ever.
Despite the franchise she comes from. And I wish they'd made a model of her ship! I'd totally be scouring ebay if they had made a Dark Fortress model like they did for the two AI-controlled spaceships the good guys have...
