Alistair: So those... designs you have all over your back...
Zevran: They're called tattoos. And I have them in many more places than just on my back, my friend.
Alistair: Err... right. I hear that someone gets those by having needles put the ink under your skin?
Zevran: A great many needles, amongst other things. Yes, that would be true.
Alistair: Didn't that hurt?
Zevran: Ohhh, yes, yes. But it is not so bad, in truth. If you like, I could give you one. I learned a bit of the art myself in Antiva.
Alistair: Oh, no. No, I don't think so.
Zevran: Come, it will just be a small one. Perhaps the symbol of the Grey Wardens? Something manly! Where are my needles?
Alistair: Um... maybe some other time. I'm... I'm going to go stand over here, now.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm going with. It's also basically the same system I used for Amberdrake's Healing Gift in the multiverse game I played him on for a few years.TanithAeyrs wrote...
On the topic of magical/ instant healing in FF. I try to keep it to a minimum - even a magicaly healed injury is likely to leave some scar tissue and require some recovery time. Also it should be difficult, if not impossible, for a healer to repair more than one life threatening wound at a time. Healing potions/poultices should also not be able to fix everything. In my DA world broken bones don't line themselves up, infected wounds can't be cured with magic and their is a cost to both the healer (exhaustion) and the healee (the tissue regenerated has to come from their own resources, it doesn't just magically appear).
I guess, coming from a medical background, I want some realism to injuries - I still have poor Zev trying to regain his flexibility in one shoulder after an infected wound (I also snuck a little penicillin- bread mold) into the DA universe to deal with the infection.

Edit: I think if you're going to gravely injure a character, it should have more impact than walking it off. XD
I really need to read your fic if my brain ever de-fogs. Everyone's in this thread, really.

How often do characters need to get injured, anyway? Writing about recovery sounds like a pain...

If you're playing as a magic-resistant dwarf does that mean healing is less effecive, too? It seems like it would but that would really suck.

I wrote that Missa needed a day and a half of rest to recover from infected wounds, but had Morrigan!magic and Morrigan!herbs to help speed it up. Leliana took two arrows to the chest that she needed two days to recover from, but had Morrigan!magic/herbs again to help the process along.
*waves hands* WIZZARD DID IT

soignee, I thought we were supposed to poke you if you were playing on the Zev thread instead of writing. We are going into Missa withdrawal.
